Zoo Fun

I'm behind like always, whats new!? Ha!

On Owen's birthday we went to the Zoo. We invited his friend Adalyn and Kendra. Greg was working so it was just Owen, Landon and myself. It was a nice pretty day, sunny and warm. Being at the top of a mountain at the zoo, it was pretty toasty.

These cute kiddos. And look at Owen, looks like he's on a date! haha.

Once we got in our first stop was the Giraffes. They are always a favorite in our house. This zoo has a BUNCH of them. You are on a walk way that you are just at their level or a tad above. They sell lettuce that you can feed them. We used to do this at the Abilene Zoo, they had two, giraffes there, and they had crackers. This was so much better, These giraffes were hungry, and super friendly.

We ended up feeding a baby, hence why it's at their level. Owen was in heaven and LOVED to feed them. He was squealing, laughing and making all sorts of excited noises.

(It was a little hazy out, there are some wildfires and we are getting smoke from them)

This zoo is on the side of a mountain, it's steep, lots of walking, lots of look out points with gorgeous views. Lots of pretty animals, and lots of interactive things to do. LOVE that.

When we went to the reptile center Landon got to cut fruit and veggies and feed the pancake tortoise. Super fun.

We were starting to get hungry, and the kiddos were getting tired. After our train ride we left and went to lunch.

First Landon got to pet a wallaby.

The boys and I had a great time at the zoo. It was tiring, But loads of fun. It's fun to see how Owen reacts to things now. The excitement. That is the best part.

I backed Owen a cake and after dinner we sang Happy Birthday. He enjoyed the icing and wasn't a fan of the cake part.

It's hard to believe this little stinker is TWO already!

Summer Fun

Summer vacation sure started off busy and fun! First was our trip to Texas. Then a week later my mom and Bob came to visit for the weekend. After that was Owen's birthday party. Now things have seemed to slow down. We have a few random things going on, but that's about it.

The weather was nice and hot up until this week. Now it's been nice, but we've been getting the afternoon rain showers. That is always a good thing. But the mornings have been cool, and afternoons rainy, meaning we haven't done too much.

We did hit the splash pad last week for the first time this year. Owen loved it. It was warm out, but that water is freezing!

Landon was off running with his buddies. We had a picnic, played in the water and dried off while playing on the play ground.

Greg also had a big work squadron BBQ fun day at Bear Creek Park. It was nice that day. The boys had a really good time running in the big open field and playing Minecraft.

There was of course Father's Day. We got Greg and sound system for his phone. He's been wanting one forever.

We gave it to him a few days early. On Father's Day I had Landon fill out questionnaires about Greg and Poppa Bob and gave those to them. We also gave Greg a cute plaque for his office. We made breakfast and enjoyed the company.

This week has been slow. We went to the park yesterday for about an hour. That was it. Landon's friend Claire stayed the night and today he went with their family to the movies. Afterwards they played in the water. Now we are just hanging out.

Since Thursday is Owen's birthday I invited his friend Adalyn to come to the zoo with us. It should be fun. We haven't been to the zoo here for a LONG time. I think Owen will love it.

What have you been up to this summer? I am hoping things pick up again. I like to do things and hang out with people. I like company. I like to go on trips......I like to do things!

A Pirate Parghhty

On Saturday the 21st we had Owen's 2nd birthday party! I can't believe he is almost two. His actual birthday is this Thursday, the 26th. It's insane how fast time goes, and how much they change.

We had a pirate party. Owen loves to watch Jake and The Neverland pirates so we went with that theme. I didn't want to go full on Jake so I mixed in some pirate decor from Hobby Lobby. Turned out great!

I scoured pinterest and blogs for ideas. And almost all of my stuff came from those. SO many cute things and ideas. Gotta love those sites. Here is his cake. I showed my cake lady a picture of one I saw and liked, and she did a great job. I LOVED it. And it tasted amazing.

It was so nice to be in our new house and have SPACE! I loved it. We had the cake and favors and gifts in the front room.

In the bags I had a bag of Pirates Booty Popcorn, a pirate inflatable sword and chocolate gold coins.

My mom made the bones and 2, and Bob make the big red X's for me.

For food we had corn dogs, little smokies, salami, summer sausage and cheese. Jalapeno popper dip, chips, spicy ranch dip and carrots, pasta salad, fruit kabobs and fruit with fruit dip. I also made marshmallow s'more bites, and two different chex mixes.

My mom and I made Owen a little shirt, with two pirate patches on in and a big 2 on the back. It fit him perfect.

For stuff to do we had Walk The Plank, pirate ducks in the water table, digging for gold coins in the sandbox, the bubble machine blowing bubbles, and pirate beach balls everywhere!

Owen loved to open presents. He got some great goodies. Thank you to everyone who came and brought fun stuff.

I made him his own special cupcake and frosting. He liked it, But was too anxious to get  back to playing!

We had such a great time! The weather was nice. We had a pretty decent turn out and the kids had a blast, in the end, that is all that matters!
