Some more oldies

We've had a pretty relaxing and boring day today. Nothing much really going on. We went to the Commissary and that was that. Finally this afternoon I asked Greg if we could go some where so we went to Academy to look around. Greg grilled some chicken, I made corn on the cob and beans. We turned on the news while cooking dinner and they were talking about the drought again. It's so bad! It made me sad because they said that farmers are having to sell their livestock because they can't feed them. We got less than an inch of rain in the month of June, which is one of our wettest months. It's so crazy that the poor people in North Dakota are having floods, and here we can barely get a drop of rain. Please please please pray that we get some rain.

I LOVE this picture. It makes me laugh so hard! Check out Kenny (Greg's dad on the right). He is SO wearing a cut off shirt with some short shorts. SOOO funny. He kinda reminds me of the brother on Napoleon Dynamite, the one who wants to play football. I think that was his brother.

Keepin' it cool

Triple digit heat. Plain and simple, it's been hot! I thought we would be spending this summer out back in our blow up pool, listening to music and enjoying popsicles. I thought we would be frequenting the base pool, and practicing going under water and swimming. 

Instead we have been hanging out indoors, trying to beat the heat and stay cool. We've been avoiding going outside due to the drought and dryness. We pretty much have no grass, and our ground is cracking. We still haven't been to the base pool yet, and I am not quite sure why. And we've only filled our little pool up twice. Today being one of those days.

So we busted out the air pump and pumped that thing up and filled it with water while we got ready for the day. 230 rolled around. We pulled out our swim suits, got out sunscreen and lathered up. We grabbed some towels, the camera, sunglasses and our shoes and headed out back.

The water was a perfect temperature, the sun was out and blazing, and the wind was blowing. Our cheeks were red from the heat, and we were sticky from the sunscreen. But sitting in the pool with my two favorite guys, it felt like summer, and it felt good! 

It was so windy we had to put the umbrella away. It about blew away twice!

It was only 102 out today, beats the 108 it was all last weekend. 

It was definitely something I needed. I think we all needed it. The heat isn't going to get any better, 10 day forecast shows no rain, all sunny days 102+.... I think we need to make our first trip to the base pool soon!!!

Is that comfortable?

Every night before I go to bed I always go to Landon's room to check on him. Usually I will cover him up, take a blanket off, turn his flashlight off, move some stuffed animals to the side. But that night when I walked in I started laughing....

He had his neck pillow from Grammie wrapped around his neck and was snoring away. I thought to myself, is that even comfortable? I peeled it away from his neck and set it beside him. I knew if I left it I wouldn't sleep at all, I would toss and turn and worry a monkey leg might choke him or something. 

He sure does like his monkey neck pillow though! Thanks again Grammie!

Congratulations TSGT Select

We are SO proud and excited to announce that Greg made TSGT! (Technical Sargent) He found out this morning and was beyond excited. I know it's a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. Now it's just the wait game to sew it on. So until then, he is TSGT select Teague! He keeps insisting that I refer to him as TSGT Teague. What a goofball! His line number is in the 6,000, so it will probably be six to seven months till he sews it on. 

I wanted to do something for him. I wasn't sure how the afternoon was going to pan out. They had a promotion results party on base this afternoon. Greg said if he went, since he made it, he would have to pay $20 so that people could drink the beer. What? Kinda crazy. But they wanted people who made rank to pay $20 so anyone who went to congratulate or celebrate could drink for free. Hmm. So Landon and I had a few errands to run and we stopped for some balloons.

Landon was really excited about them and told me he couldn't wait to yell "SURPRISE" when daddy got home. Greg ended up skipping the soiree on base and came home to us! We went and celebrated and had dinner at Texas Road House, and Greg drank an ice cold beer!

Now Greg REFUSED to let me take a picture of him by the balloons. So it's just Landon and I. I was looking forward to seeing his paper stating he made it, and his line number and tack on stripes. But, they didn't really do that. I got a picture when Greg made SRA, and SSGT, but this base didn't do it. I was bummed, and Greg said the same thing. I guess every base is different.

Congratulations Greg! Landon and I are so proud of you. You work your butt off and studied like crazy and totally deserve it! We love you.

Tomorrow at 8am Greg will find out if he made TSGT. He is a great big ball of nerves tonight. He studied hard and works his butt off so he definitely deserves it. Keep your fingers crossed for him..

Trip Down Memory Lane

I told you we got some old pictures from Greg's family when they came. Here are some of the ones I wanted to share. 

This first pictures is Greg's mom's family. The lady on the far left is Oma, Tina's mom, or Greg's grandma. Tina is the one on the bottom right.

The next picture is a picture is in front of a church.  It's of Greg's Opa (Grandpa) he is on the bottom row, 5th one from the right. 

This is Greg's Opa again, he was a Marine. 

I have a bunch more photos, but I want to do a few at a time. It is so neat to see these and hear the stories behind them. 

These next pictures of when Greg's dad was stationed in Michigan. Greg was about 10 years old, and he has the same angry scowl or pouting face that Landon has.

I LOVE this last picture. Greg is the one with his arms crossed and the mad look on his face. (of course) I asked what he was mad about and he said, "I have no idea." Weekend Re-cap

I wanted to post some more pictures from the rest of our weekend. It was nice to have Greg's German family here. They are SO sweet, love to talk and tell stories and are so funny! They scanned some really old pictures of the German family and they are so cool. I loved seeing all the old pictures of Greg when he was little and hearing all the stories. Those are always the best visits! 

After our shopping trip to Toy R Us Landon fell asleep in the car. I couldn't get him to wake up and he took a pretty good nap on the couch! 

After Landon's siesta we went outback. It was about 104 out, and the wind was blowing, blowing hot air, but it didn't matter. 

Tunda Sabina and Uncle Greg are used to mild temps, it gets warm in Germany, but doesn't last. They liked the heat, but it wore them out! (It wears us out too!)

We just gotta make sure to stay in the shade, take it easy and stay hydrated. 

The kids played, drew with chalk, did and occassional run in the yard, Alex grilled dinner, and uncle Greg, Greg Sabina and I chit chatted. Then Uncle Greg decided to draw with the kids!

On Sunday we woke up and everyone got ready and then we took the German's to DFW to catch their flight. It was really sad to see them go, and it made it even harder when they had tears! 

But first Landon had to wake Daddy up to wish him a Happy Father's Day!

After saying good bye we then said goodbye to Alex, Jen, and Ava. We went for some lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. It was FUN! We've been before, but Landon was really excited and in to it this time. It was jam packed, but we got there at the right time. After eating we went and walked through Grapevine Mills Mall. We got a few things at Gap and then headed home!

I guess we didn't realize how bad the drought was here, and how dead everything was until we got home. Dallas was a lot greener than here. It was also a tad bit cooler. It was 108 when we got home, and that is pretty much how it was all weekend. We were supposed to get some rain today, and it totally bypassed us. We are praying for some rain! 

Happy Father's Day

I am so lucky to have so many wonderful men in my life. 

I am lucky to be married to a wonderful man who is an amazing father. Landon is SO lucky to have you as a father Greg! You two are inseparable, two pea's in a pod. I love watching you two together, it just melts my heart.  

Happy Father's Day Greg! Thank-you for being such a great father to Landon and such a positive role model. Landon definitely looks up to you and loves you SO much!

I also wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my Dad Rick! 

I hate that we are so far apart, but thank-you for being such a great father and grandfather! We love you and miss you!
