OLD Picture

I never realized how much Landon and I looked alike. I look at Landon and see Greg. But after looking at this picture I kinda see some resemblance? I think we are around the same age? Are we mom? How old was I there?
This was this week at school. Landon LOVES to read!

And this was me! Who knows how long ago. 25 years ago? Man I'm getting old. But I see Landon when I look at my picture! What do you think????

Lazy Saturday

What a week! That about sums it up. It was a long week, lots of weird/silly things going on. Situations that happened that all Greg and I could do was laugh. Ever have one of those weeks? Alls I know is I am glad it is Saturday and I'm glad it has been a quite relaxing one so far.
Want to hear one of our "silly" things that happened? Yesterday I was leaving for work, Greg buckled Landon in his seat and waved goodbye to us. I back out of the garage and BAM, I clipped Greg's car!!!! AHHHHHH Greg was standing right there. All I did was put my hand over my mouth. And Greg grinned and laughed and he shook his head. LUCKILY a small scratch on his bumper and NOTHING on mine! :) I'm SOOO not used to having a second car in the driveway! Greg says I'm banned from parking in the garage, but he's only home every other day.... haha!
Another funny story. Greg came to pick up Landon from school. He didn't have a car seat in his car so he swapped cars with me. He realized he left his wallet in his car and he told me he was going to go get it then leave the keys in his car. Ok! He leaves, I get off work around 545. IN WALKS GREG! huh? First thing I asked him is where is Landon? Turns out, Greg never stopped back by his car, which meant he'd left his wallet and left me stranded with NO keys to get home! I had no idea. And because I work on base, he HAD to have his ID to get on, or sign him self on. BUT since his wallet was in the car, he could sign him self on base but couldn't drive due to not having his lic. HAHAHA! Luckily Greg has a buddy down the road, he called him up and he drove our car to base, signed Greg on and Greg got his wallet and left me the keys! Thanks to Raz I was able to make it home!!! All we both did was laugh, I of course had to give Greg a hard time.

Potty training is going good still, and sleeping is getting better and better every day. I hope it all keeps up. I bought Landon a huge pack of Pull Ups. Sams had a great deal on them. No more diapers! Hopefully he won't be wearing Pull Ups for long.

Here are some pictures!!

A picture of Landon in his baby bath. He was probably 3-4 months old. Little chubby man!

"Camera hurts Landon's eyes!" That is what he was telling me when I was taking pictures of him in the bath last night! Silly Boy!

So while Landon naps I am going to enjoy some quiet time. We are going to take dinner to the Fire Station tonight and eat with Greg. Landon is so excited. That is all he can talk about. He LOVES it there. I am making chicken enchildas and for dessert strawberries with fruit dip. MMMMM!!!!!! I'll take lots of pictures to post on here tomorrow.

Big Boy!

I am SUCH a proud mommy right now! We've been working on the potty training thing with Landon. He is now in Pull Ups at school. Well today my little smarty pants stayed dry ALLLLL day and went potty like a big boy. I am so proud. Greg was shocked and said, "Man he is growing up too fast!" Looks like this weekend we are going to have to bust out the cute little undies and get him fully potty trained! I'm ready, I think Landon is ready too (at least I'm hoping he is!)
Landon's sleeping has improved too. Last night I told him it was time to go to bed, I've been doing it the same time every night now, 9pm! He said no, but we went and got daddy and we tucked him in. I told him he was such a big boy and I said let me get your train blanket, he said "thank you mommy," and I started to walk away, just as I got to the door I said, "I love you Landon," and I hear him with his cute little voice, "Love you mommy." Not a peep out of him after that, he went right to sleep. About an hour in, LIKE ALWAYS. He cried for about 5-10 min. I went in and said lay down and I'll cover you back up, he said "TANK YOU MOMMY" and went back to sleep! WOOHOOO It was great to FINALLY get a good nights sleep. FINGERS CROSSED it goes well again tonight.
The fire Greg went to the other night got under controll pretty fast. He was only out there for a few hours, there wasn't much they could do because their truck was so small and the terrian wasn't good for the truck. He said it was a sight to see though. And today of course there is another fire. This one is a little closer. The smoke is blowing over to us. It smells like fire and there are ashes everywhere. This is what I see when I go outside.

Ashes!!!

This is the fire. It doesn't look that big, but it is.

Greg is sitting stand by some where around the flight line on base. He said he can see it pretty well from where he is at. I guess they are having a hard time getting this one contained. Because we live close to a small lake and an airport the helicopters that are dropping stuff keep going over our house. VERY LOW! One of them was so low I could see the people! It's cool but it makes me nervous. I just hope and pray they can get this one under control fast. The weather in Texas is just hot and dry! We need some rain VERY badly! It was 90 plus out today.

Hope everyone has a good night, I have to get my big boy in the bath! ~toodles!

Last Night/Today

I wanted to update about last night but first off I just wanted to say I'm so proud of Greg. (and nervous) He is out in Clyde, about 17miles away, helping put out a pretty good size fire. I don't know many details right now but I do know he is there and helping. It is very dry in Texas right now and it was 90 degrees out today! I did see the truck leave base. I was so proud thinking, that's Greg in there! I am sitting here thinking about him and praying him and the other firefighters stay safe and that no one gets hurt. My heart also goes out to the people that live there in Clyde!

So Landon slept pretty decent last night. He woke up his normal one hour in to the night. He was really upset but we let him cry for about 5-10min. I went in there, I was so nervous he was going to be on the ground, he tends to fall out of bed sometimes. But no, he was still sitting there. I told him he was a big boy and gave him a hug and kiss and told him to go to sleep. He sniffed for a few, I could hear him as I walked away, then he slept till three. He again cried for a bit then I went in there told him to lay down and covered him up. I had to eventually wake him up this morning for school!! Last night was better than the other nights, hopefully it will continue.

Landon and I fell asleep on the couch together a while back, when he still had his paci. It looks as though I can't breathe due to the blankets in my face! haha

This is what Greg loves, when Landon falls asleep on him. Landon no longer likes to sleep like this, or just not lately. Look at all of Landon's hair!!

I hope tonight is a good night, I am tired. Greg is of course at work and will be home in the morning. Please keep Greg and the other firefighters as well as the people affected by this in Clyde in your thoughts and prayers!

Sleep issues

Sleep, who doesn't love sleep? I know I love to sleep. There's nothing like sleeping all night to wake up in the same spot with your face smashed to the pillow. I love that feeling, it is a feeling I haven't had too much of lately. Landon hasn't been sleeping so well. He was a decent sleeper as a baby. He had his occasional sleeping through the nights, but he always seemed to wake up. We mainly always thought it was due to his silly "paci." When we moved to Texas Landon started to deal with ear infections. He never really had them in Germany. He would get over the ear infections and sleep great, then it would start all over. Most of the time his ear infections would be back. Two or so weeks before he turned two I got rid of his pacifier. It was MUCH easier than I thought. He sleeping seemed to get better. Then he came down with yes, ANOTHER ear infection.

Landon just a few weeks old taking a snooze!

Landon two years later in his big boy bed with his face "smashed" into his pillow.

He's always seemed to wake up exaclty one hour after he fell alseep. Most of the night he would not wake up again. It seemed like he was just making sure mommy was still here. (this was happening when Greg was deployed) Greg got home and poor Landon had come down with Croup and so his sleeping was off. Since then his sleeping pattern has been HORRIBLE! He does his one hour waking up after he falls asleep then it seems he wakes up either every two or three hours! We let him cry, more like scream for a while then we go check on him. It also seems like he is having nightmares. He'll wake up yelling, "No my milk" or "MOMMY" or "NOOOOO MINE GIVE IT BACK" or something along those lines. His teacher said this is normal for children this age. Is it? I have no idea. All's I know is I am tired, and I don't know what to do.

I put a alarm clock in his room with of course the numbers for light, it has sounds to fall asleep to. I've tried the noise thing, having a night light, that alarm clock thing. I've tried it all. We lay him down awake and let him cry. I've tired it ALL! Tonight he was getting tired, he drank his milk and said "night night mommy" and so Greg and I went and laid him down in his bed. He was NOT happy! He cried for 5-10 min, I went in there and he was standing in his room by his book shelf. I laid him down and told him to go to sleep. He screamed again for another 5-10min, Greg and I both went in there told him he was ok and sat with him for a minute. He clamed down and was awake when we walked out. He fell alseep a few minutes later. I am sure he will be awake soon, I just don't know what to do, maybe I need to check his ears again. Two and a half weeks ago they were clear who knows. If you have any suggestions/recommendations PLEASE HELP US! I need some of that good old sleep, so does poor Landon and Greg!!!!!!

Where does time go?

Time goes by wayyy too fast. We had a big going away/welcome home BBQ last night, we had between 25-30 people over. There was a newborn baby, so cute, and a pregnant lady. So everyone was doing the baby talk and pregnancy talk. It really made me think about when I was pregnant and when Landon was born. I don't really remember Landon being so tiny, he alway seemed so big to me. Here is a picture of him coming home from the hospital and a recent picture below that.

November 15, 2006 7lbs 6.9 oz 21 inches

And look at him now, 2 years 4 months and 29lbs! What a big boy!!!

Greg and I've been talking about having another baby. I think a lot of times, yeah! I think i'm ready. And then I REALLY think about it and I'm like, maybe I'm not quite ready yet. I don't know if you will ever be ready. What do you think?

I have lots of cleaning to do around here. We had that big bbq, which turned out AWESOME. I made a ton of food, Greg bbq'd 30 burgers and about 20 pieces of chicken, and when everyone left, it was all pretty much gone! They played beer pong in the garage and had a big keg. We had the rock band going on in the living room which was really funny to watch all the drunk people singing and playing. It was a great time. The only major thing is a small hole in the ceiling of the garage, one of the guys kicked his foot up there when he was doing a keg stand...hahaha... I thought it was funny...... Hope everyone had/has a great weekend!!!!

Pictures

I just wanted to share some more pictures from the zoo. Thanks to Jennifer for sending them to me! It's nice to finally have some pictures with me in them. Usually I am the one behind the camera!!!

Thanks for the flowers Ava, she really wanted them in my pocket!

Landon LOVED the fish. Every fish he ever see's is "Nemo." We've been thinking about getting him a small fish tank for his room. I've seen some really cute ones at WalMart, it was Elmo and too cute!

Landon petting the rabbit, he called it a cat though!

I LOVE this picture! I wish you were in it Jen! Everyone is doing their own thing. I look kinda skinny too, maybe that is the pose I need to do from now on?

We are looking forward to this weekend. Landon has a birthday party to go to and then we are having a going away/BBQ at our house. Lots of people coming over. It should be lots of fun. I hope the weather is nice and that we can get a day of NO wind. I know that is a lot to ask here in Abilene......

I survived!

So I survived my first day back to work. I was happy to go back, but sad at the same time. I really enjoyed being home with Greg and Landon. It was very relaxing and much needed. The kids greeted me with open arms, which was great. It's definetly nice to be "back in the swing of things!" Landon was happy to see his teachers and friends. His teachers did say he asked for Daddy today and was crying for him this afternoon. Awe, broke my heart. Looks like Landon might get to stay home and spend some time with Daddy tomorrow. We will see!!!!! Those two are inseperable....

Here's a picture from Greg's homecoming. Landon was so excited to make a sign for Daddy. But when Daddy arrived the sign some how ended up in my hands. Landon saw daddy and bolted toward him. It was the best thing I've seen!!!!

We did some impulse shopping yesterday. Greg and I've been carpooling since we've been in Texas. It works out ok, but it tends to get tiring. Our schedules are just wayyyy to different. We've been talking about getting a second car and how it would make our lives easier. Since we are pretty comfy with the house and where we are at we decided to just go "look." Greg found a car, and we ended up bringing it home! He got a 2006 Toyota Corolla, silver. It is really nice, he loves it! Now things are going to be a lot easier on all three of us. No more begging for rides and stuff. WHEW!

I don't know if any of your are TV fans, but Greg and I are. We LOVE The Amazing Race and are so excited it's back on. Greg and I always say we would love to go on that show, but I think we might pull each others hair out! I am a big fan of the Bachelor, I thought last night was the finale and I was very disappointed to find out I have to wait TWO more weeks. I think he is going to choose Melissa. We will see. We are also excited to watch Hells Kitchen and Survivor!!
Bath time, I'd better get going!!!!! Hope everyone has a great week!

Dallas Zoo

I just wanted to start by saying Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful day. We spent our Valentines Day at the Dallas Zoo! We went with Alex, Jenn and Ava. The day started off cold but it did warm up a little. We got to see lots of exotic animals, bugs and reptiles. Landon had a blast seeing all the animals and of course chasing and copying Ava. We are so used to our small zoo here in Abilene and so is Landon. Landon kept asking if he could, "Feed animals crackers?" all day. It was very cute. One of the coolest things was probably the elephant, I've never seen one in person, it was huge! The zookeepers were feeding him and washing him off. He would lift his leg/foot up for them to spray. It was really cool. We also enjoyed the otters. I think that was Landon and Ava's favorite. They were feeding them while we were there and they kept swimming up to Landon and Ava and making a funny little noise. Landon did not want to leave those Otters. It was too stinkin cute!

This is Landon in the Children's part of the zoo. He was observing the Meerkats! We also got to climb through a tunnel and pop our heads up through this bubble so it seemed like we were there with them. (too bad it was cold and they were hiding)

Ahh the Gorilla. He was so big! Landon stood and watched him for a good five minutes. The gorilla was eating grass. When he finished he walked away grabbed more and sat right back down to munch away. Today when we asked Landon at lunch what the gorrila was eating he knew it and said, "gorrilla eating GRASS!"

This picture is one of my favorites! It says it all. Ava has the "princess" look and Landon has the "whatever" grin. Landon thought, and still thinks he was sitting on a dinosaur!

Ahh my sweet little man. He was picking Daffodils and making everyone "smell" them. He carried a handful of flowers around for a while. He finally decided to feed them to the tiger! (Not really, he just tossed them near the tiger exhibit)

We left the zoo at 4:11pm. Landon was alseep by 4:13pm! Kid you not!!!!! He slept an hour of the drive home and then was ready to go again. He talked about the animals and Ava all the way home. He is still talking about it today. We've definetly got to go back, maybe next time we will hit the Fort Worth Zoo.

Happy Sunday to everyone. I thought today was my last day off. I was checking my myspace and a girl from work poseted she was happy to be off tomorrow. I got a little confused, looked at a calendar and realized it was President's Day. I get another day off!! Woohoo!!!!! I am really happy about that. Back to work Tuesday......

Fun Day

Landon and I went to the park yesterday while daddy went in to work for a little bit. He had a fun running, climbing, swinging and sliding. I think he misses school and his friends. He kept telling me "Come on mommy." I had to climb and slide with him! It was a nice day out, probably mid 60's, sunny and windy, of crouse always windy in Abilene. I was standing near the slide waiting for Landon to come down and there were huge wasps everywhere! Geez, I wasn't expecting to see wasps out already, only in Texas!
Landon waiting for mommy to follow him.
Last night after Landon got out of the bath I clipped his finger and toe nails. A few minutes later I hear him in his room "diggin" through things and he comes out with the clippers. He says "mommy, see fingers" and began to pretend he was clipping my nails. It was really cute, he concentrated so hard. When he was done with my fingers he moved on to daddys. He would then go put the clippers away. Come to the living room for a minute then run back to his room and get them and he would "clip" our nails again. It was really cute!

This was after I got my manicure from Landon!

So today we are headed to Dallas to visit with Alex, Jennifer and Ava. We are excited. Greg hasn't seen them since he's been back. Landon LOVES Ava to death and he is super excited to see her. We are planning on staying the night and then tomorrow we are going to go to the Dallas Zoo! I'm looking forward to the fun weekend since I have to be back to work on Monday. Greg still has the week off, he goes back on the 20th! So lucky...

Big Boys

Look at my boys taking a nap! Landon woke up grouchy from his nap and I laid him down on the couch, (there's nothing like a good ol' couch nap) and he fell back asleep pretty quickly. I went in to our room and when I came back out I saw this! I had to chuckle. Like father like son for sure. They both snored away on the couches.

Today was a pretty eventful day. We offically took Landon's crib apart. He is now in his big boy bed! It was kinda sad for me, Landon's not a baby anymore. He's had his toddler bed for a while but due to ear infections and not sleeping well he seemed to do better in his crib. So tonight will be the first night with just his big boy bed in his room. I hope he does well. Keep your fingers crossed for us! He also went poop on the potty last night for the first time! SUCH a big boy Landon!!! Mommy and daddy are so proud of you.
We all seem to be battling a stomach bug. I had it VERY bad on Sunday and am still not feeling that great, a lot better but not 100%. Greg's stomach was upset last night and this morning but he is doing better. Landon seemed unphased UNTIL we decided to go to Lowes this afternoon to check out some things. Landon wanted his juice after checking out and sitting on ALL the lawnmowers (He calls them "walmarts"!), He was sitting so nicely sipping away on his juice then I got that look. His poor eyes watered up, I told Greg, "He's gonna vomit." Greg pulls him out of the cart and put him on his shoulder. I told Greg "Don't do that he's going to throw up on you!" Next thing we know, poor Greg, VOMIT everywhere! Poor Landon, It was a mess. I quickly tried cleaning them up and Greg ran to the front to get someone to clean it. We quickly walked out and drove straight home! This evening though everyone seems good, Landon's been running around and acting like his normal self, I hope we are all on the road to recovery!

First Time Blogger

This is my first time ever blogging. I've recently become addicted to reading people's blogs. I figured I should start my own. I'm going to tell you a little about myself and my family.

I am orignially from California and Greg is a military brat. Greg and I met in High School in Japan. We began dating our senior year and have been together ever since. (98' to be exact.) We got married on April 12, 2003 at a cute little bed and breakfast in Wimberely Texas. Shortly after (two weeks to be exact) Greg went away to boot camp. I stayed with Greg's family and worked while he was in training. He finished school and everything and in October of 2003 we moved to our first duty station, Spangdahlem AB in Germany. We spent 4 amazing years there. We were able to do lots of traveling and see many wonderful things. For me it was my first time in Europe, not Greg. Greg has family in Germany which made it even better. One of the best days of our lives was when we welcomed our son, Landon in November of 2006. He also got to do lots of traveling his first few months of his life. Landon's been to Paris, Rome, Netherlands, Belgium and many other great places. In Oct of 07 we PCS'd back to the states. We are now staioned at Dyess AFB in Abilene Tx. We are so happy to be back in the states. Greg's family lives outside of Austin and his brother Alex, wife Jennifer and our niece Ava live in Dallas. They are all just a quick drive away!!!!

Greg just finished with a 4 month deployment in Balad Iraq. Greg left in Sept and just got home last week on the 4th of Feb. It was a long 4 months with Greg missing all the holidays and not to mention Landon's 2nd birthday. Greg made us very proud while serving his country. Landon and I are so thankful to have him home safe and sound and back with us again.

I am going to try to keep up with blogging, I think it is a great way to keep in touch and to keep a journal for myself. I am still trying to figure everything and make my page look nice. If you have an pointers, please feel free to HELP me! :)
