Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! It's one of those holiday's that makes me choke up and puts a huge knot in my throat. Thank-you to all the service men and women for protecting us and sacrificing your lives for us. Days like today make me even prouder of Greg, and him serving in the Air Force.

I've enjoyed my last day off as much as possible. Our skin is sun kissed, we smell like sunscreen and have dirty feet. Landon has Popsicle stains on his shirt, and the towels are hanging out to dry. We've got pictures playing by the pool, playing in the mud, and having fun swinging and playing at the playground.

We even washed both cars this afternoon. Well I did. Landon was very prissy outside. He wanted to sit and watch me, he did not want to get wet, and every little bug that flew near him he would run and scream. He just wasn't feeling the car washing party. I had to work fast, he was up under my feet, tripping over the hose, getting whacked with the hose and occasionally getting wet and yelling at me for it. What a stinker. Usually he enjoys stuff like that. Not today. Go figure right?

So it's back to the grind tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting back on track and hitting the gym. I am on my last pill of medicine today, and will be done. I am feeling a lot better too! Landon has a field trip tomorrow to the May Farm. I know he is going to love it, if he can stand the heat. We are going to have 100 temps probably most of the week. We were outside this morning when we went to the park, it was 1015, and it was like 86 out already. It sure felt hotter than that, dang humidity! I guess I can't complain, Greg said it's 110 there by 10am. I can't imagine....

Fun in the sun

See what some fun in the sun will do to ya? This is Landon yesterday after taking his midday dip. He was zonked out!

Yesterday evening we went out back to clean up the pool and water the flowers. Landon started playing in the water. He was making mud puddles for me.

Yes he is in his undies, and his shirt is tucked in the back of them, I think it makes the pictures even cuter. I remember seeing half of my pictures when I was little in my panties...

He then "skimmed" the pool for bugs. So if you need a pool cleaner or a mud puddle maker I have the boy for you!

He eventually worked up a sweat and hopped right back in the water....

It's a tiring job, so it's nice to sit back in some warm water that's been heating up in the warm Texas sun, and put your feet up.

Today was a normal day. Nothing exciting on the agenda. We did our normal morning routines. Went to the Commissary, came home had lunch, took a nap. Same old same old. Then the doorbell rang, it was Kristen and the girls! They came over for a swim too!!

They didn't stay in the water long. But Landon was excited to have them over. They had their first Popsicles, and Landon sat in the pool while he ate his. It was actually really hot at the time. I think it was about  430pm and it was probably 95 out. So after playing outside we hung out inside and played. I forgot how tiring and busy 1 1/2 year olds are. They are so cute, and Audrey still followed Landon around. I love how they walk around and giggle and laugh. It is sooo stinkin' cute! I think tomorrow morning we are going to go to base, early before it's a million degrees out, and go to the park with them. The girls love to climb! I guess I was lucky, Landon wasn't really a climber, maybe I just don't remember...

So it's official. I miss Greg, and it feels like it's been forever since I've seen him. It's only been a week and half. It feels like much longer. I guess it never sunk in he was gone because I hadn't been feeling well. It sunk in and hit me this weekend. (I missed Greg before he even left, but for some reason I really really started to miss him...does that make sense?) Maybe with Memorial Day and all the talk about service men and women it's really got me to thinking, thinking how proud of Greg I am, how much I love him and miss him.

A midday dip...

It's been long over due, getting the pool down from the attic. I told Landon this morning I would go get his pool down out of the attic while he was sleeping and it would be ready when he woke up. All morning all he kept talking about was his whale pool, and he wanted to go swimming!

I worked out in the yard for about and hour mowing and weed whacking. Then we ran some errands and stopped at WalMart. He continued to talk about his pool, he wanted to go home and go swimming, NOW! He was so excited. I repeated myself and told him his pool wasn't ready and when he woke up it would be. So after lunch I layed Landon down for a nap. He was not happy. He didn't want to sleep. I walked away and went out to the garage. (He usually falls asleep really quick) I pull the stairs down for the attic, slowly walked up the stairs, like something was going to come at me, and flipped on the light. I turned around and there was the pool! I didn't even have to go all the way up there. I dropped the bag from the top of the stairs and shut the light back off, folded the stairs back up and shut it as fast as I could.

I went out back and pumped it up. I walked in and heard Landon. It had been maybe 10 min. I walked in there, told him to get out of his bed and come here. I then grabbed his swim trunks and got him dressed. I've never seen such a big smile in my life! He was so happy.

You could tell he was tired, he sat in there, giggled a little, pointed out all the butterfly's, bees and dragon flies that flew around. He splashed a little, talked a little. Then he told me he was cold! (it is 90 out right now)

So he had a Popsicle while he dried off in the sun.

I got him dressed and he climbed in bed and fell right to sleep! He was so excited to get in that pool, I guess all he needed was those 20min to go out there to play. I'm sure as soon as he wakes up we will need to do another dip in the pool, I am sure this time the water will be warmer! Maybe I'll hop in with him.....

On The Fritz?

Happy Friday! It was really nice today to have a week day off. I'm mean I love my weekends, but it was nice to be home on a weekday. We got to chat with Greg on Skype this morning for a while. I am still not used to the video, but it was nice.

We had some shopping planned and ended up going shopping with Kristen and the girls. Our first stop was Best Buy to drop off her computer. Landon and I walked around with the girls while she took care of business. Landon was so sweet with the girls. He was holding Audrey's hand, and Audrey really seemed to enjoy him. I held Addisyn. They sat down on the chairs and Landon had to have Audrey in his lap!

We had a little snack break, fruit roll up and juice.

Then we went to Target. It was a quick in and out. I think I spent $7.00. After Target it was lunch at Jason's Deli. Mm mm, I hadn't been there for a while. It was great!! Landon was so good the entire morning. He was very sweet and helpful with the girls. We came home and took a nap. I chit chatted on the phone and watched some weekday TV! When Landon woke up we went over to Hobby Lobby. Why when you want to spend money and have some money to spend can you not find anything? I hate that!

So today when I was on the computer I hit my leg on the table pretty hard. Now my computer doesn't sound right at all. I turned it off for a while and just turned it back on. Now it sounds the same. Loud, it sounds like it's the fan or something. I have this terrible feeling it's going to break on me.....

Not sure what we have planned the rest of the weekend. I have yard work to do, NOT FUN, and a few other odds and ends around the house. I am going to get that pool down out of the attic and maybe we can go swimming, it sure is hot enough for a nice swim!

Computer Boy and 4 Day Weekends

Yay, it's a Thursday night, and the start to a nice long Memorial Day weekend! I've got the next 4 days off, I should be super excited and ready to go, the thought of not having to get up at the butt crack of dawn, being able to just relax and do as I please, I should be putting on my flip flops and heading outside to enjoy the nice weather....
(Aren't those the cutest feet ever? I Love how he has them on)

So I should be putting on my flip flops and shaking my booty?
No, just Landon likes to shake his booty. I was trying to take his picture and he insited on me taking one of him doing this. What a boy I tell ya. If you were here he would probably be trying to shake it on you.

So instead of being super excited to get a fun, relaxing weekend started, I started mine off back at the Dr's office. I woke up this morning with another terrible headache. My ears were throbbing, my throat hurting and my head was pounding. I took some meds when I first got up, I was getting sick to my stomach and not sure if I was going to make it. Once I took the trash to the curb before we drove off my headache disappeared. Thank-you! I still didn't feel great though. I've had no energy all week. Last night I was sitting on the couch, watching Landon play and next thing I know I dozed off. I was sitting straight up too! Man, I sure was tired. So any who, I went to the Dr's and I have a double ear infection and sinus infection..... so I am on a round of antibiotics and steroids. I also got a shot in my bum. Landon was with me and was chuckling when I had to get a shot. He held my hand and helped me. Such a sweet boy! I am feeling OK now. The meds are making me a little dizzy and lightheaded, good thing it's almost time for bed.

Landon was just spinning around this afternoon and going crazy. I would love to take him outside, but I think I need to stay inside for a day. I decided to get on Nick Jr and let him play some games. They have computers at school and he loves to watch the kids on them but isn't in to playing them too much.

It was funny watching him trying to get a hang of the mouse. He did pretty good. He played all different games. I loved watching him concentrate...

So maybe tomorrow I will get to feeling back to myself again and we can celebrate. We can go buy a new pool, play in the sun and water, eat Popsicles and drink ice cold lemonade. (I bought some too!) I just hope those mosquito's are going away, I am sick of being eaten alive by those annoying little things!!!

Family Picture

Landon's class each drew a picture of their family and then they made a quilt with all the family's to hang on the wall. I saw Landon's and my mouth dropped. He drew all the pictures, then the teacher asked him to tell her who each one was so she could write it down, this is what he did:

He even added Lukie. (He always called him Lukie) I just think it's SO freakin' cute. I didn't expect him to draw something like this, since he isn't a fan of "sitting" and coloring. (The boy doesn't like to sit and do stuff like that)

Did you watch the DWTS finale? It was long, but good. I am glad Nicole won, she was really good! I actually liked all the finalists. And of course it was funny to watch Kate dance again, she was terrible as always. Did you see Jake and Vienna dance? I actually thought that Vienna wasn't so bad! I was pretty tired at work today, staying up till 11 watching TV the past few nights is taking it's toll. I had an early lunch today and I fell asleep on the recliner in the break room. I got about a 30min nap, and I felt refreshed after that. When I got off work Landon and I went over to my friend Kristen's new house to help her move a few things and unpack. Landon found one of the babies mermaid McDonald's toys and was in heaven. Kristen let Landon take it home too, great, thanks a lot Kristen, he hasn't put it down since we got home. I am going to have to sneak it away from him while he is sleeping I think....hahaha

Also some exciting news is that my bff Cindy and her baby Caitlin are coming to visit me. She is supposed to buy her ticket tonight, I have my fingers crossed she gets one. I need a girls weekend. Plus I've never met Caitlin and she is almost two! I think it will be lots and lots of fun to have them here.

I have a 4 day weekend this weekend. Awesome! Except what on Earth am I am going to do? I am debating going to see family, or should I just stay here and do stuff around the house? I haven't made up my mind. What are you doing for Memorial Day weekend?

Boring Day

We are about 6 days into this deployment. It's going well thus far. I'm trying my darndest to keep busy. It's easy to keep busy when you have a spunky 3 1/2 year old around. I don't think I could do this deployment with out him. He keeps me company, makes me laugh, melts my heart with the sweetest things he says, is great at giving hugs and kisses, and like I said keeps me busy. I love Landon so much! He's my best Landon ever!!!! (I tell him this alllll the time) I always say, "I love you so much Landon, you're the best Landon ever!" Then he says, "What about Daddy?" Always, he will always say that. It's so cute.

This morning I was checking out his bites on his arm, and the swelling had gone down on the one, and I was so happy to see that. We got to school and he was looking at his arms, then he says while looking at his bad bite, "I'm worried about this one."  It was out of the blue, and his little voice was so sweet and concerned when he said it.

I've been having headaches again. Sinus ones. I decided to make an appointment to get checked. The Dr said my ears were red with a little fluid, and my throat was red too. He said he wanted to get me back on my Allegra and Flonase to see if that would help. I am all good with that. They always seem to give you an antibiotic and steroid, and I hate taking the steroids. I hope it works. I am sick of the headaches. Usually when I go to the Dr's you all know I have to wait FOREVER and a day to be seen. Not today. My appointment was at 145. I was taken back at 150. I was out of there by 210. AMAZING! I was so happy. The longest part was waiting for my RX at Walgreen's. That kinda ticked me off, but oh well.

My 'sweet sweet boy' is now throwing a fit because I asked him to give me 5 minutes on the computer.... I guess my days aren't so boring, just not a lot of excitement! haha!

Shoes and Lemonade

Who loves a nice ice cold glass of lemonade on a hot sunny day? Well, we do of course! (except we didn't have lemonade so we settled with Koolaide!)

I found the cute lemonade pitcher and glasses at Target. Landon was excited to have a lemonade stand and the other night with dinner we decided to have a 'lemonade party.' We of course didn't have any lemonade, bad mommy, so we decided to go with some Koolaide. We bought those fizz things that you drop into water to try a while back and never opened them. Well, Landon loved it of course! So we still have a big pitcher of "lemonade" so whenever it's meal time he asks to have some of his "lemonade" with it! So silly!!

Sunday before getting groceries we stopped at Kohl's to look around. Last time I left I left wanting to go back and buy more. I ended up just getting a pair of capri's and I found Landon some shoes. See, for Christmas my Dad and Alma bought Landon a pair of Dino Soles shoes. He love love loved them! He wore them so much that the Velcro didn't work. He found them the other day and insisted on wearing them, even though they didn't fit. So when we came across them at Kohl's I HAD to buy them. He had brown ones before, this time he picked out the green ones.

Yes, they are a tad much, but he had to wear them out of the store, and he insited on stomping his feet the entire way out of the store and growling as if he were a velociraptor! When you stomp the shoe the Dino's eyes light up. They are pretty cool.

I came home from work with a headache, but it's gone away now, Thank-god! Tonight I have good TV to watch and I would hate to miss any of my shows!!!! Who do you think is going to win DWTS? And are you going to watch the Bachelorette??

Greg update

For those of you who are wondering about my dear husband Greg, he's finally made it to his final destination, Iraq. He is happy to be there (well, you know, not really happy to be in Iraq, but glad he's there and made it safe.) and happy to finally get his time started. I am not sure if I can start my count down yet, I will ask when I talk to him next. I've actually been talking to him quite a bit. It's a lot different nowa days. (Thanks to technology) We signed up for Skype, so he's been calling me on my cell phone through that. He's even been sending me texts! We haven't got to chat via web cam but once, he was still in Virginia though. So, he's made it there, and made it safely. He said it's exactly the same as last year when he was there, and he is right by a new chow hall and the pool, so he is happy.

I've always put little notes in Greg's bags whenever he's deployed. I put a few this time, not as many as I usually do. When I got home from the airport I found some note he'd left for me! It made my heart melt and made me love and miss him even more! (he'd only been gone 30min. haha)

There was one on the TV, and one in the microwave, and my camera battery died so I opened my junk drawer to get it out and he left one in there, it said, "Peek a boo, has it been a week yet?" So funny. No it hasn't....

Landon misses Greg like crazy, and still doesn't know why he hasn't come home from work. We were out back last night and a plane flew over, Landon said, "It's daddy's plane mommy, loooook!" He was so excited. I told him yep, daddy was off working and fighting all the bad guys.

I mowed the back this morning. I went out to move the stuff off the grass and got eaten by them dang mosquito's. I came in, got my jeans on, a long sleeve shirt, shoes and sprayed myself with Off, then went to work. I was scared of snakes, so I made Landon stay in while I mowed. I shouldn't have been scared of snakes, it was the dang mosquito's. They were flying all around my face, landing all over me. I was swatting at them and killing them. They bit me through my shirt for crying out loud. Let's just say I pretty much ran through the back mowing, and then was done. I did nothing extra and didn't put anything back. I heard from my neighbor friend down the street that her dog got bit by a rattlesnake. Crap! Now I'll never go outside. Landon and I are going to be confined to the house all summer!!

oodles of fun

What a busy day we had. I was kinda nervous about the weekend. Sometimes the weekends make me sad and miss Greg. I want to keep as busy as possible. And that's just what we did today! I cleaned the house and then mowed the front yard. Piece of cake. The new weed eater, um, I got mulch pelted into my legs. I guess I'd better wear pants when I do the back yard tomorrow. No, I didn't wear pants. I did wear shoes, I would have preferred to mow in my flip flops!! I need to find a longer extension cord, I was only able to reach right in front on the house and around the flower bed. So when I mow tomorrow I will wear shoes and pants. (Lots of Off too, we got eaten by mosquito's tonight)
We grabbed some odds and ends at Walmart. I got some food items that I can't get at the Commissary, like strawberry frozen waffles. I got some other things that I probably could have lived without. I was a tad on the hungry side, so was Landon. I ended up spending like $80 bucks! Man, now I remember why I don't shop for food off base.

After lunch and nap we headed to one of Landon's classmates 4th birthday party. It was at an indoor jumping place. I'd never been, but heard all about it. When Landon woke up he saw the gift and said, "Ohhh mommy, it's sooo pretty!" (I wrapped it while he was sleeping) Then he wanted to show me his big muscles and he wanted to carry it to the car.

We walked into the place and there were big huge bouncy castles everywhere! Landon was off, screaming and having a blast. Quite a few kids from his class went, so he was even more excited to be there. Not to mention it was a princess party!

(I am really mad at my camera. I think I've used it so much it's going to crap out on me, I need a new one, and I want one of those nice ones......)

(see all the lines, that's whats making me mad)

He breaked for juice and to sing happy birthday. He didn't want to eat, cake or the food, he wanted to go and bounce again. Notice how wet his hair is. Yes, that is pure sweat!

I was expecting a major melt down when we left. He tried to argue saying he didn't want to go, but I was firm, he was fine! Whew. I was dreading that one.

So we've eaten dinner, played outside, watered the grass and picked some weeds. We got eaten by the mosquito's, and have had a bath. Time to relax for a bit then head to bed! What did you do today??

Freitag

Yay, It's Freitag! (That's German for Friday, I probably misspelled it though!) Today actually kinda felt like a Tuesday for me. Thursday felt like Monday. It's just been one crazy, up and down week. I am definitely happy it's the weekend.

Landon had his special snack and butterfly release at school this afternoon. I am soooo mad at myself because I didn't have my camera on me! I always have that thing in my purse, but of course not when I needed it. Oh well. Landon got to hold a butterfly and let it go. We had to pick it back up off the ground and let it go several times. He giggled when it was on him, then he wanted me to hold it. After several attempts at getting it to fly away Landon just ran to the tire swing. They got to decorate foam "wings" to wear. Landon LOVED them, (Of course) and thoroughly enjoyed running around with them on. He also got a butterfly tattoo on his cheek. He loved that too. I am still miffed I didn't have my camera....

So the new Shrek came out today. I promised Landon we would go and see it. We rushed over to the theater, to find out the next 2D showing wasn't till six. We still had well over two hours to kill. So we came home. Landon was a tad confused and ticked. But after explaining several times what was going on he finally understood and accepted it. The movie was great! Shrek movies are always good to me. This one was pretty short and funny! I laughed more than Landon, but I did hear some good belly laughs come from him. (Which I LOVE) We got popcorn and drinks and found a seat in the packed theater. I kept asking Landon if he wanted a booster. "NO mommy, I don't need one." I had to hold the seat down with my knee. I asked again when the movie was starting and asked if he needed to potty. Then the older gentleman in front of us turned around and said, "Would you like me to go and get one for you guys?" Awe, that was so sweet. I told him no thank-you, thanks for asking. Landon sat on my lap the entire movie anyway....There really are some nice people out there still!!

Before the movie we grabbed some McDonald's. My phone rang, yay, Greg was calling. I grabbed it as fast as I could, and touched the button answer it, and I heard Greg, "Hello? Can you hear me? Priscilla, are you there?" I'm sitting in the car practically yelling, "Greg, hey, I'm here, I can hear you. Can you hear me?" Then I hear, "Hey, Can you hear me? OK, well if you can hear me then get on Face book." I then realized when I answered my fat thumbs (sometimes I hate those touch screens) pushed the mute button, so he couldn't hear me. I clicked the unmute button and said, "GREG, can you hear me?" and then I heard the click. Man, I was heartbroken. I really wanted to talk to him, and I knew I wasn't going to talk to him again for a while, we were going to the movie and I don't know where on Earth he is right now....(I did get a nice little message from him though, where ever he is, he is safe, so that's always good to know and hear!)

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, I think, I hope. I have to mow the yards already. We have to go buy a gift for the birthday party, we need groceries and we have the birthday party to go to! I like busy days, just NOT the mowing part of it....

Goodbyes

I don't like good byes. I never have. I like more of the, "See you later, be careful, I love you" goodbyes. A quick kiss and hug and then be on my way. It's especially hard though when you are sending your spouse away to war.

The anticipation of a goodbye is always tougher than when it comes. I usually shed my tears the night before. If Landon were to cry this morning I probably would have lost it. But, he was tired, as were we, and he said bye to daddy and gave him lots of hugs and kisses, then he went back to watching his movie in the car.

It was very early when we dropped Greg off. He had to be there by 0445! We got home and Landon and I layed on the couch, in the dark, and watched a cartoon or two. Then it was time to leave for work and school. The day has been pretty easy. Until we pulled in the driveway and Landon saw Greg's car and said, "Oh yay, daddy's home!" Instant knot in my stomach and throat....

(Don't we look super tired? Yeah, not much sleep, and it was 0430!)

Greg will still be traveling for the next two days probably. Please keep him and the other guys on his team in your thoughts and prayers. I am ready to start the count down, but we can't start till his foot sets down in the sandbox. Greg, Landon and I love you so much and are so proud of you for all you do. Stay safe over there, and hurry home soon!

So, on a happier note. I am going to try to blog every day. Greg likes to read the blog so I want to make sure to keep up with it. Y'all better stay on me so I do it! I also went back to the gym today. (it felt great too) Last night we did measurements and weighed ourselves and took pictures. We want before and after shots so we can compare after this Deployment. Let's just say, I am very disgusted with myself and plan on trying to loose about 20-25 lbs. I hope I can do it. Well, I know I can do it, I just have to push myself. I got 4 months to do it! I just did cardio today, the gym was pretty dead, which is always nice. Then these two young skinny girls come in. They hopped on a treadmill, started running, talked and chit chatted the entire time. Then got off and gave each other a high five. Then they, left. They were probably on the treadmill a total of 10mins. Man, I wish I only needed to work out 10 mins a day....

We actually have things going on this weekend. We have Landon's school's butterfly release tomorrow. I also want to go watch the new Shrek movie. Saturday we have a birthday party at this indoor jumping place, and Sunday I have a bridal shower to go to! It's nice to have things to look forward too, I need things to look forward to to keep my mind off of being alone again!
