Lunch Time!

Since Landon's back to school, it means time to start packing lunches. I don't mind doing it, and I like to know he is eating his lunch. Some of the school lunches don't look too appetizing so I want to send him something I know he is going to eat. I see so many cute ideas on Pinterest (of course) and in all the back to school lunch box area's there were tons of cool bento box things. I of course waited too long, and ended up just getting one from Martha Stewart at the BX.

I'm trying to make sure it's semi healthy, and not all packaged junk. Now he is going to get that stuff, but I want to make sure I am putting some good stuff in it.

I am also making sure he eats some sort of Greek Yogurt during breakfast. He loves Greek Yogurt, and they have all different yummy kinds. He loves the ones with fruit on the side, or granola, and this week we tried the ones like the Gogurts. I like Greek Yogurt because it's good for you and has lots of protein in it, and it'll fill him up. He of course has been having some sort of bowl of cereal, waffles, oatmeal, toast or whatever he wants. Some mornings I don't have time and so cereal it is.

Ok, so now I look at today's lunch and think, chips, PBJ, NOT healthy.

We have to get bread without milk so Owen can have some. Some breads with no dairy aren't very good for little ones, then we found a basic white bread for kids with extra protein in it. I know white bread isn't good at all, but until Owen is a tad older, it's going to have to do. He also has snack before lunch since his lunch is a little later. I send him a granola bar. Usually a healthy one. The Commissary is starting to get a decent selection of semi healthy stuff, which is nice. So I switch up the different granola bars for his snack, or I make a snack mix for him. Usually peanuts, cranberries (Or some sort of dried fruit) some Chex mix and sometimes some chocolate chips. I don't send a sandwhich too often, he states that he doesn't like them. Some days I do thick sliced ham with cheese rolled in it. A tortilla with some cheese. I am still searching Pinterest for ideas. It has to be fast, they don't have much time to eat, and Landon is a talker!!!!

Owen slept awful again last night. I've been so tired, but for some reason being so tired makes me deep clean the house! I've been going through things, throwing things away, load after load of laundry. I pulled the couches out and got all of Owen's balls for him. Man, under the couches gets dusty fast, and all kinds of crumbs! (I actually do this weekly)

Prayers Owen sleeps tonight, or better than he has!

14 Months

Mr. Owen, today you are 14 months old!

What are you up to these days?

~ You are 20lbs 10oz.

~ You are in a size 3 diaper and wear 12 month clothes. You have some 18 month stuff that fits, and you have lots of 9 month onesis and things that you can still wear. You are tiny.

~ You are in a size 3 shoe. But you aren't a fan of actual shoes, you like the little leather shoes we got you.

~ On a 'normal' night, you go to bed at 745. On  'normal' night you wake like 30 minutes after you go to sleep, we pat your butt and you go back to sleep. Then you usually sleep til 5-6am, have some milk and may go back to sleep for another hour or two. Lately you are not sleeping at all. Last night you were up every hour until 2, then you slept from 2-6. Your sleeping pattern bites right now. I took you to the doctor today because it's killing me. You have been stuffy as well. She said everything looks and sounds good. Most likely just teething, some allergies and excema flaring up. Wonderful. So, you are on Motrin, Benadryl, and all your creams. She also wants us to give you your Zyrtec. Yikes.

~ You take one nap a day. It's usually 12-2. Sometimes shorter. WE have to leave to get Landon about 210 so I am having to wake you every day now.

~ You are trying to walk. You walk to Greg, Landon and I. To and from your toys, from the couch to things and walk along everything. You just won't go for it. You push all your toys, and fast, you can get them turned around too. Such a stinker.

~ You love to climb. You got your first goose egg tonight while mommy was out running. You fell off the side of your slide. Poor guy.

~ You talk A LOT. That shouldn't surprise anyone, you and Landon are talkers. Some of the words you say are: more, eat, yeah, yes, banana, apple, cracker, Landon, mom, dad, hi, hello, and your all time favorites, Uh-oh and Doggy. Every animal is a doggy, even Mickey Mouse.

~ Eating: still a finicky eater, but getting better. You have oatmeal for breakfast every morning. I know that fills your belly. You like all kinds of crackers, Belvita, Ritz, Graham Crackers, you name it. You LOVE hot dogs, grapes, banana's, apples, yogurt, popsicles (We don't give you these, but if Landon is having one you yell at him to give you bites!), chicken nuggets, rice, peas and spaghetti. With this 'teething' you have going on you aren't eating great. But what's new?

~ You love to go on walks and be outside. You love your stroller and to swing at the playground.

~ You wave and say 'hi' to everyone now. It's cute.

~ You have 11 teeth, and like 11 more coming in at once it seems.

~ Some of your favorite things to do is go through the cabinets and drawers, the dishwasher, climb the stairs, take things out and put them back. Also putting lids on things and taking them off. You are a smart little fellow.

~ You are rough and a screamer. But that's nothing new. You scream when you want something or don't want something. I am encouraging talking and doing signs. I hate that ear piercing scream you can do.

A picture of your first goose egg. You can barely see it. Poor baby.

You are already on my lap. Sleeping didn't last long. You woke up screaming already. Calming you down was no fun, and putting you back in your crib I am sure is going to be a challenge. I'm giving you a few more days, if you continue this sleep stuff we've gotta move on to something else. I can't take it anymore. Mommy is tired, I need some sleep and I need some time at night to relax, even if it's just 30 minutes before I go to bed.

Anyone have any sleep training tips?

Birthday and Weekend Wrap up

Friday was Greg's 32nd birthday, he finally caught up to me!

We got him a few gifts, I ordered at cake at the cake shop I've ordered the boys' cakes through. (Yellow cake, chocolate frosting, per Greg's request) and we went to dinner at PF Chang's.

It was all pretty low key. I feel bad I didn't go anything extravagant.

Saturday there was a math and science expo thing on base. They had allllll kinds of cool stuff to look at and do. Landon, Owen and myself headed over since Greg had school work to do. We walked through the expo to sign in and get Landon his shirt and I noticed Owen had welts all over his body. His eyes were swollen and welted around. It was scary. I called Greg, he came over with his Zyrtec and we gave him some. Greg took him home and called the nurse. She said from what it sounded like he had a reaction to some pollen or something in the air. Poor Guy.

Landon and I got to stay for about an hour to check some things out.

He got to look at the sun through a telescope, check out how electricity works...

He saw some dinosaur fossils and made some flubber at the science booth.

The EOD guys had their robot out and were showing the kids how to work it. Then there was a guy walking around with the suit on. He said it weighed 80lbs, the helmet was 15 itself.

We had cotton candy and snow cones and watched Radio Disney dance and listened to music. Then we went through the museum and Landon got a picture and autograph from an astronaut!

There was so many other cool things to check out but we had to head home because of Owen. Landon had a great time the hour or so we were there. It was a pretty day out as well.

We ate lunch, took a nap then headed to Landon's friend Claire's birthday party.

Today we haven't done anything. Greg's worked on NCOA stuff. I went to the Commissary and Walmart. Wohoo, such an exciting life we live!

Can't believe tomorrow is already Monday. Landon has a 4 day weekend, and we have some fun stuff planned. Can't wait!

Zombie

I. Feel. Like. A. Zombie.

My sweet little strawberry blondie boy has been giving this mommy a hard time. We are back on the not eating, not sleeping and being constantly fussy train. His sleeping hasn't gotten better. It was good for about 5 days, then slowly has gotten worse. I feel so extremely tired during the day. I've also been running every single night, so that makes me even more tired.

This stubborn boy walks to and from us, the couches and his toys, but that's it! COME ON dude, walk!

He was also eating like a champ, made me so happy.

I got asked today at the Shoppette when his first birthday was, I had to tell the lady he is almost 14 months. ha!

I'm sure it's teeth. I was trying to feel around, kinda feels like canine's this time. I just wish ALL his teeth would come in NOW, so he'd get back on track.

Since he hates shoes, I got some of these, it's what Landon learned to walk in. He loves them. He doesn't take them off, and will walk with them on. IF one comes off he will holler at me holding it up, "Maaaaammmmaaaaa."

Landon is doing great in 1st grade! He's already learning things and I can see a difference. I like being back on our schedule, it makes everyone happy.

Tomorrow is Greg's 32nd birthday! I can't wait to celebrate!

1st Grade

Today was Landon's first day of 1st grade. It's so hard to believe I have a child in the first grade. It's crazy. Friday night we had meet the teacher. Landon's new teacher for the year is Mrs. Born. She's been teaching for 30 years. She seems very strict and to the point, and she doesn't put up with anything, from ANYONE. I am hoping she is going to teach Landon a lot. She is definitely totally different from Mrs. Ferguson. We shall see how it goes!

Landon was so excited to start school. Three of his friends are in his class again, which he was super happy about. It made momma happy too, not going to lie!

So this morning I woke him up and he was ready to go.

I had his bag ready, all his papers signed, money in an envelope and lunch packed. This year he takes his own snack and a bottle of water to drink. That was all ready. I fed the boys then I got them dressed.

Landon was not having me taking his picture, he insists on taking a silly one, crossing his eyes, sticking out his tongue, so it looks like he is about to bust out crying in every. single. picture.

We left early to have time and to be able to get a parking spot. He was so excited. He kept saying, " I don't want to be late." He is just like Greg and I, have to be on time or early. Thata boy!

I was happy for him to be at school again. It was sad not having him around the house. And the whole time I kept getting, "For why do you have to keep taking pictures MOM?"

I am planning on doing these same questions every year. Not sure if I want to do them at the beginning and end or just the beginning.

Favorite color: All the colors but green.

Best Friends: Jaden and Josh

Favorite Cartoon: Teen Titans

Favorite Food: Pizza and Orange Chicken (Panda Express)

Favorite thing to do: Go to the movies.

Favorite Movie: Iron Man 2 (The real one he said!)

What do you want to do when you grow up? Be a baseball player!

Walking

Guess who FINALLY started to take steps and walk? Landon. Haha. Just kidding. The ever so stubborn Owen! Monday night he just let go of things and walked to something else. It's just a few steps between, but it's a start. He will walk between Greg, Landon and I. And to and from the couches. It's cute, little Frankenstein.

It's nice to know he will be 'walking' on his own very soon. And I am also realizing all the temper tantrums I am sure we will get about the walking stuff. I am ready though. I think he will be SO MUCH happier when we are out.

We've had some crazy summer afternoon storms the past few days. It'll be nice and warm, sunny then all of a sudden, dark, lightening and thunder. It'll just pour rain, hail and be windy. It's nuts. The rain is nice, it just hinders us from getting out side in the evenings and enjoying the fresh air.

Just a few more days until open house and meet the teacher. Can't believe I'll have a 1st grader on Monday.

We are just going to try to enjoy these last few days before school. It's not supposed to rain the next few days so hopefully we will get to enjoy the last few days of summer outside and not be couped up because of the rain! It's definitely a change from the weather in Texas, and boy am I OK with it and like it.

Not Only.....

Not only does Owen love the dishwasher, he also love the dryer.....

Whenever I go to fold laundry he usually tosses it all out for me. Then one day he decided to get in. I chuckled because it was funny. NOW, he tosses some clothes out and gets right in. Sigh. And Don't worry. I usually take him right back out. I just had to get a picture. He can't get the door open by himself, and the laundry room doors are always shut!

1 Year ago, Changes and Fun

One year ago today we received TWO offers on our house. One low ball, and one for our asking price. We were just 4 days from moving to Colorado.

One year ago we accepted an offer for our house and declined an offer. We were so happy and were finally able to breathe and look forward to our move to Colorado.

One year ago today I had my last day of work. I went in for a few hours then did my out processing and went on Leave Without Pay status until the new year.

It's hard to believe all the stuff that happened a year ago today. It was such a stressful time in our lives, and such an exciting time in our lives. Owen was also only 6 weeks old.

Owen finally cut 2 of his one year molars. He slept like a champ last night, made me SO happy. He's only got one left, hopefully it's there too and I just missed it.

Owen is obsessed with the dishwasher. If he hears me open it he speed crawls over and hops up.

He likes to move things around, drop stuff, put it back. He is always soaking wet when we are done. I've also learned to do dishes when he is seating and strapped in to his high chair having a snack or meal. I know how much he loves it so sometimes I let him help me.

In one week Landon will get to meet his teacher and have his Open House! Can't believe summer is over. Some days dragged by, but for the most part is was fast.

There's also been some other changes. Owen is no longer taking a bottle. It's been about 4 days I think, maybe long....just pretty sippy cups now.....

I've also decided to stop drinking Diet Soda. I know how bad aspartame is, but it didn't really click. Then I read an article. I realized that I have been really dizzy, down in the dumps, having some heart palpitations and all kinds of weird things. I didn't realize that aspartame could do that to you. So I stopped. Now, if you know me, you know I love my soda. It's hard. I know if you are going to have one to just have a regular soda. SO, I have a bottle in the fridge and when I needed that soda or had the urge I poured a small glass. Tonight we went to eat and I got a diet coke, it tasted gross. I had a few sips and that was that. And honestly, since I've stopped, I feel better. No more weird dizzy spells, headaches, moodiness and stuff like that.

At night I've been walking with a friend around housing. The path we take is about 2 miles, if we go around a different way we get in 2.5 miles. It's been nice. We are walking about 4 nights a week. This week it's been raining every night so I've been going to the gym, and RUNNING. It feels great. I hope I too can keep this up! I've gotta get this baby weight OFF.

Tonight they had a Military Family Day at the park behind our house. We met with some friends and had some fun!

Happy Friday!
