I wish all Monday's were this great

I like a productive and busy day. A day where if feels like you’ve accomplished some things. Today, so far, seems to be one of those days. AND it’s a Monday, how ‘bout that?

Last night Greg and Opa got home around 930pm. Landon was almost asleep, but when we heard them outside Landon turned in to hyper mode! He was so excited to see daddy and Opa. Poor Opa was tired and sore; he and Alex participated in an Iron Man challenge in Lubbock. Opa was spending the night and driving back to Austin this morning. Landon bounced off the walls for almost an hour, and we finally had to lay him in bed so he would calm down to go to sleep. That was a struggle too. He laid awake for a while, spurts of crying, spurts of talking, and spurts of playing. He eventually crashed.

This morning we woke up later than normal, we’re on vacation, so that’s ok right? I made some blueberry muffins and we watched some cartoons, then after getting ready we headed to the zoo. We hadn’t been for a while. Landon was anxious to feed the giraffes. As soon as we got there he was on a mission to get to those darn giraffes. After that he was good to go look at all the other animals. We came home had some lunch then ran some errands. I have been taking stuff to Goodwill and we had another load. This time I cleaned the garage when Landon was sleeping and got our old light fixtures and stuff together. They’ve been sitting in there. We might as well give them to somebody who will use them, right? That also cleared a corner of our garage up. I also uncovered our Koo Koo clock from Germany. We need to get that thing put up. We spent a lot of money on it. Another project to add to the

We also stopped at the post office; I had to mail some bills and packages. Then we just had to stop at Sonic and get some drinks. It was right across from the post office, very convenient. Landon just awoke from his nap, kind of crabby, but nothing a cold cup of juice can’t help. Greg is at the gym, when he gets home I am off to get my pedicure that I’ve been wanting to get FOREVER. (Waiting since my b-day, I got a gift card to get one from Aften) I think the plan for tomorrow is to head to the Dallas Aquarium. From the website it sounds pretty cool, we may hit the children’s science museum too, the one you told me about mom. I hope everyone else has had a wonderful Monday like I’ve had! Oh, I know I haven’t posted any pictures, Greg has had the camera, post with no pictures = boring blog. I’ll post some soon!!!!!!!!

Trying to be a good Mom

So I’ve been procrastinating lately. Why you ask? I made sure to go shopping for Father’s day the weekend before so I could mail off packages to California in hopes they would make it before Sunday. So why are the gifts still sitting on my counter? I don’t know. I wanted to mail them when in Austin, didn’t make it to a post office. Then in San Antonio, again, I forgot didn’t make it to a post office. So I apologize Dad, and Bob, for not mailing off your cards or gifts. I PROMISE I will mail them tomorrow, no if’s ands or but’s about it, ok?

I had to stop at Walgreens this morning to pick up a few pictures and then Landon and I went and walked around Target. I only needed a few items. On the list was shampoo for Greg, body wash for Greg, a picture frame and stickers. And kid you not, I ONLY bought those items. (Minus the shampoo, it was almost $7.00 for Head and Shoulders, I can get it for half that on base!) Ok, this is way off subject but I was re-reading that last paragraph and why is Head & Shoulders called that? You don’t wash your shoulders with shampoo. Right? If you do, and you are that hairy to have to use shampoo on your shoulders that is pretty gross. Weird!

Also while on our excursion to Target I realized, I would probably save a lot of money if I didn’t buy Landon some sort of sea creature every time we went out. It’s hard to not buy stuff but for some reason I was thinking about that. Landon asked to go look at toys. Of course! I like to go look too, but Target is where we get all of Landon’s sea life. He has everything they sell, and some he has doubles of. Time to cut him off. Any who, we went browsing around the toy department and we finally made it to the dreaded fish aisle. I could see him trying to figure out which one to grab and ask me to “pay for it.” I slowly pushed the cart on. He got angry, I tried my best to try to distract him and get him to look at other things. Wasn’t working. Crap. I continued to talk to him telling him, “Mommy can’t buy you something every time we go to the store.” He was crying very loudly “I want buy fish” all throughout the store. I stayed strong, biting my lip and tongue very hard. I talked to him the entire way to the registers; he was getting madder and madder. I was getting more and more embarrassed. After many deep breaths we made it out the automatic doors. He cried all the way to the car, and about 2 of the 6 min drive home, and he passed out! WHEW!

It sure is hard trying to be a good mom and trying to do the right thing isn’t it? I am now enjoying a very quiet house while the prince sleeps. I sure hope he wakes up in a better mood and forgets about what happened earlier!

Green Thumb?

Green thumb? Nah, it's purple. Landon slammed his thumb in the door this afternoon. He is fascinated with going in and out doors, opening and shutting them. This time he got his thumb, and the screech I heard, I knew it hurt him. I was standing at the sink mixing some juice, he was right there at the door to the wash room/pantry. His poor thumb, nice and red/purple. We immediately got his 'boo boo bear' out of the fridge and placed it on there. I cuddled with him for about 20 min. I could tell he was in pain, the boy usually bounces right back. Soon after I gave him some Motrin for pain, and he is fine. It looks normal now too. We were sitting at the table eating and I asked him,
"Landon, how is your thumb?"
He looked at it and said, "It just hurts."
"Oh do I need to take you to the doctors?"
"noooo," shaking his head, squinting his nose, "I can't go doctors."
"Why can't you go to the doctors Landon?"
"I can't, I too big, my boo boo bear make it better, see?" and he showed me. He continued eating his fish sticks and broccoli. Such a funny little guy, I love having conversations and listening to what he has to say! He is sooo smart, it just amazes me.

2 Year olds

Raising a two year old is a lot of fun. There are challenging days and moments, but that goes for anyone, everyone has bad days. Anywho, the things that come out of Landon's mouth make me laugh. Sometimes it shocks me, good and bad. I always try to ask Landon what he would like to eat, mainly to make conversation, this is how it goes:
"Landon, what would you like for breakfast? Cereal? Oatmeal, pancakes?"
"I want pizza mommy."
"Landon, time for lunch, what would you like to have today?"
"uhhhhh, pizzzzzzza!"
No matter what time of day, or where we are, Landon wants pizza. The boy can eat pizza likes nobodies business. I am sure it's just a 'phase' and he will soon not want to look at pizza again. I just think it's so funny how much he loves pizza. Typical boy! Today he was sitting at the table eating lunch and I was chopping veggies for my lunch. He said "I all done momma." I told him, "Landon you need to eat some lunch and then when you are done it's nap time." He was sitting accross the kicthen and he looked up at me with this evil grin and kinda rolled his eyes. He then says to me, "I'm soooo mad at you." Oh my, I turned toward the window and chuckled to myself for a min. I turned and asked him why he was mad and then I get a sigh and "I'm mad at you mommy." He rolled his eyes and everything. He got up from the table, I walked over to him with my lunch and sat down. I told him, "If you get up and you are done then you are going to go lay down for a nap, sit down and eat please." He did. Silly boy. That was the first time I've heard him say that. I'm sure it's not going to be the last.
Now please, I don't know how many of you read this, I can not figure out HOW to get these darn paragrahs to have a space between them. I HATE that it looks like one big paragraph, there is nothing worse than reading a lonnnnng run on paragraph! Help Help Help please :)

In the HEAT of the moment

As I've said over and over lately, it's just plain HOT! It's almost like I forget how hot it gets here and how hot it actually does get. Or how 104 feels when you walk outside. Or that walk from your car to Walmart, it feels like we are about to melt by the time we get to the entrance. You know what I'm talking about? It's even miserable taking the trash out, and it's ten steps out the front door.
I guess since it is going to be well over 100 again tomorrow we are surely headed to the pool. I also need to catch up on my shows since we've been away. I also think I need to make a stop at the gym. Since being on leave I have eaten sooooo bad! Just putting whatever I want or sounds good in my mouth. That's bad! Since it was so hot al weekend it seems everytime I turn around I had an ice cream in my hand. It helped to stay cool, and it went straight to my hips! I hate that I get so off track. It's time to crack down. I will start tomorrow! ha
It's always bittersweet coming home after a vacation. It's great to be home, I can't wait to sleep in my bed, but it stinks to think our trip were so looking forward to for so long is over. We all had a blast. I am looking forward for the weekend and my next week off. Greg and I were talking and I think we are headed to Dallas to the aquarium. I also can't believe 4th of July is coming up. Last year we had that huge BBQ with like 40 people here. Think we are just going to take Landon to watch fireworks. He should enjoy them this year.
Well, time to finish unpacking. I've also been watching the news. I can't believe that Michael Jackson is dead, very sad, and Farrah Fawcett (Sp?) So awful. I know this post is going to be one big paragraph, I HATE that. I've tried fixing it, but it didn't work. I also think it's time to update my blog. ~Toodles

San Antonio

Monday, Greg Landon and I headed down to San Antonio. Since check in at the hotel was later in the day we decided to stop at Lackland AFB to check it out. Greg hasn't been there since he graduated BMT in 2003. It was crazy to go back there, watching Greg's face as he looked at it all and reminisced. We had lunch and shopped and snooped around to kill some time then we headed to the Marriott.

We checked in to the hotel early, whew, and got settled. We went to a Walmart and got some snacks and milk for Landon and then took a little siesta. After that it was dinner time and exploring time! We had dinner at the Market Square at this resturant.I went here in 2002 with the Dental office during one of our conventions.

Landon was super grouchy, uh, it was very exhausting. Some guys playing music at the resturant walked around playing/singing songs for a small fee for those who wanted. They played some songs for the tables around us and that finally got Landon a little calmed down and relaxed him. Thank GOD they came around. It almost snapped Landon out of his mood. In the front of the place they had a bakery with allllll kinds of treats, mainly Mexican bakery items, Landon picked out a cookie and we went outside for him to eat it.

Then after dinner we went and walked the riverwalk. It was about 8, maybe not quite that late but we walked around. Landon really loved it. He thought it was cool when the boats went by, and every set of stairs with a bridge he wanted to go to the top. It was packed down there, we were surprised considering it was a Monday. It was very hot. A few times we came up and the breeze, ahh it was so refreshing.

Landon fed the rest of his cookie to the birds at the River walk. He was looking for sharks and fishes and whales while we were walking around. After getting nice and sweaty it was time to check out the pool. The water was cold, but it felt so good! It was a salt water pool, which was different. Landon would lick his lip and his body would quiver. I thought it was gross, so did he I guess.

After the pool we went down to the mall below our hotel shopped around and had some ice cream. We hung out at the little square at the river walk and listened to music and watched the people. It was now time to call it a night, we had a big day ahead of us!
Tuesday morning we woke up, headed to Denny's right next door to our hotel and had breakfast. We then met Oma and Opa at Sea World. It was hot already, probably 90. We got in for free, Greg was our 'hero'.

Sea World was pretty busy. I guess the heat doesn't stop anyone, it didn't stop us! ha! Our first stop once we got in was to buy Landon a Shamu. He saw them while we were waiting to get in and he wouldn't stop asking for one! Landon was a little grouchy, I think he was tired, and the heat was pretty intense so that is always hard on your body.

Our first show of the day was the Believe show with the whales and Shamu. It was really packed, and we were packed in like sardines to watch. No one at this point wanted to be touched. We were all sweaty and thirsty. Greg went and bought some popcorn, a big soda and some water. That made us feel a little better.

(notice the beads of sweat on us and how we were packed in)

After lunch, cooling off and taking a break we headed back to the park and watched some more shows. Landon was back to Landon, his car nap, about 40 min long, refreshed him to make it through the rest of the day. And now by this time of the day I believe it was 103 out. HOT! So our next show we sat in splash zone. No luck getting wet though. Oma moved back one row, she did not want to get wet. At this point, Greg and I were looking forward to possibly getting soaked, it would have felt great. (we didn't get a drop of water on us darn it)

Towards the end of the day we headed back to the dolphin observatory. The first time it was packed with people feeding the dolphins, we just watched and moved on. This time there was no line at all. So, we bought some fish to feed them and away we went. Landon absolutely positively LOVED it. I think we all really enjoyed it. We started with one tray of sardines, then Greg went back, we ended up spending $30 on food to feed the dolphins. ($5 per tray, with about 4 sardines in it) I would have spend 100 to do it. VERY VERY awesome!

"ohhhhhhhh" Landon would have sat in the Shark and Fish aquarium the entire day if we would have allowed. He loved it, I have never seen him so happy in my life. It was dark in there, and I was sitting back on the bench cooling off and I could just hear Landon chatting away to Opa and Daddy.

After a nice long day at Sea World we stopped at TGI Friday's for dinner. I wanted a nice cool salad and that's what I got! It hit the spot, and it was nice to sit in a cool place and cool off. After relaxing for a bit in our hotel room and showering we headed down to the River walk and got some ice cream and sat out on the steps and watched all the people and enjoyed the stars. I would have to say our trip to San Antonio was a huge success. Even though it was super duper hot, we didn't let that stop us. We checked out of our hotel this morning and headed to the outlet malls in San Marcos. We only stopped at a few stores, Carters, Gap, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma. We then headed back to Oma and Opa's house. We are hanging out and probably going to spend the night again and head back to Abilene in the morning. Greg is headed to Lubbock this weekend with his dad and brother. They will (not Greg) be participating in a half Iron Man. I think Landon and I are going to get the house cleaned and hang out by the pool and stay cool. As for our next week of vacation? Who knows, head to Dallas? Hit up some Zoo's or something. I don't know. Relaxing and enjoying our time off sounds good to me.

Father's Day weekend

Happy Father's Day!!!!! I hope everyone has/had a wonderful Father's Day. Our weekend has been very relaxing and just what we all needed. We headed out to Dripping Springs (outside of Austin) to Greg's parents on Friday night. Earlier than we planned, but it worked out great. Landon slept really bad the first night here. I think his stomach was still bothering him. Saturday we were lazy in the morning and headed in to Austin to get some shopping done. We just ended up at Target and headed home. Landon fell asleep on the drive home and we all partook in a nice long, much needed nap. Everyone woke up much happier. After dinner Greg and I went to the movies, ALONE, it was great, and watched The Hangover. It was really funny, we both laughed a lot. I needed a good laugh too.

Today has pretty much been the same, Nice and lazy and relaxing. We got up, went outside and played in the jacuzzi and then washed the car. We all took naps again today, it was one of those wonderful couch naps for me, ahh it was fantastic. Then this afternoon we are BBQ and Landon and Greg hopped in the kiddie pool. It's been a great weekend, like I've said a million times, just what we needed. I am soooo happy to be on vacation. I don't have to go back to work for two weeks, woooohoooO!!!!!!!

After Landon got pruned up and had to get out of the pool he had to pee. We told him to pee in Oma's grass, so he did. It was really cute, but it could be a bad bad thing. I can just see him doing it on the playground at school, what on earth have we started???

After breakfast and playing in the jacuzzi we went out front and watered the car. Landon of course had to hold the hose and 'do it myself.' He only sprayed me once, little stinker!

Landon has been filling up on fresh blueberries while at Oma's house. The little bowl cup thing he has them in he says is his 'coffee' cup. He also asked me to take a picture of his blueberries, so I did.

It's of course been 100 degrees in Texas. Only way to beat the heat is swimming and Popsicles. Except when you're two you can't eat them fast enough with out them melting alllll over your hands. They are still delicious though.

Tomorrow we leave from Austin and head down to San Antonio. I am super duper excited. Looks like Oma and Opa are going to meet us down at Sea World on Wednesday. We need to keep cool, it's supposed to be 103 on Wednesday. Good thing there is a water park at Sea World. We will definitely have to take advantage of that!

Swimming like a shark and recipe's!

What? Yea, weird title I know, but that's actually what this post is about. And how did last night go? For my two or three people that read my blog, that want to know. TERRIBLE! Yes, it was just as bad as the night before. I thought we were going to have a good night. We had a really awesome evening, I thought we were both tired. I think we were both tired, but for some reason Landon was waking up, over and over again. I tried it all, again, but it continued. They even told me today when I picked Landon up from school that he woke up about 3 times during his two hour nap. I don't know. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, I'll try them tonight, and we will see how it goes. AND, if this doesn't work, I'm taking him back to the Doctor. Something is going on...

My two handsome men at the pool. After work and the gym we went to the base pool. Landon was excited as always.

It didn't take as long for Landon to get in. Last time he sat on the steps for a while, today it was only for a few minutes, then he was off. He did very good today. I am so proud of him. He really liked walking all around. He only slipped one time and went under, didn't even phase him, me either. (last time it kinda scared me)

He walked along the edge for quite some time singing Bingo. You know, there was a farmer who had a dog and bingo was his name-o, B-I-N-G-O. That one. This was the first time I've heard him sing it, too stinkin cute.

Look at my little boy 'swimming.' He was swimming like a whale he said, he really enjoyed kicking his feet and splashing us with his "whale tale!"

After swimming we stopped at Little Cesar's and got some hot and ready pizza's and bread sticks. I think all of us scarfed our dinner down. Swimming sure does make you hungry. We are having a pot luck at work tomorrow, I had a request to make my corn dip, and when I went to the store really quick tonight I walked through the produce section. The strawberries were ginormous, and they smelled sooooooo sweet. Not to mention for a huge pack it was only $2.89. So not only am I making corn dip, I am also making fruit dip with strawberries. Delicious!

This fruit dip is very good, I got it from Southern Living about 6 years ago, I've been making it ever since. I've given the recipe to friends, they say it just doesn't taste the same, so I am posting it on here,

1 pkg cream cheese softened

2 cups powdered sugar

2tsp vanilla

1 cup cool whip

fresh strawberries (or any fruit really)

Mix first three ingredients in blender until creamy.

Fold in cool whip.

Serve/eat with strawberries.

That's it, yes, very simple, and very tasty.

Above is my corn dip. Actually, it's not my corn dip. I got the recipe from Jerisa when I worked with her at the dental office. She always made it, I always enjoyed it, I've been making it ever since. Everyone loves it, it's simple and good dip to take anywhere.

1 cup Mayo

1 cup sour cream

1 cup shredded cheese

2 cans fiesta corn (drained)(or mexi corn)

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Eat with Frito's.

That's it! Very simple I told you. Only took 5 min start to finish, cleaning up as well. Well, it's about that time, bed time that is. I am beyond tired. Well not quite, but almost. Landon and I had a talk, I asked him to please sleep tonight for mommy so mommy doesn't go crazy. It's very hard to not get much sleep, or to get so much interrupted sleep and then be with 20+ 3-5 year olds. Very tiring. Goodnight.......

Exhaustion

Exhausted, yes I am. The past two nights have been rough. I thought maybe Landon's ear infection was back. Heck, last night was our last dose of antibiotics. Already?? Did the antibiotics seriously NOT work? Sunday night and Monday night were terrible. It seemed as though Landon was waking up every few hours. A few times going right back to sleep, but it still would wake me, and a many times screaming. All the scenarios would run through my head: maybe he's too hot, maybe he's too cold, did I plug in his nightlight? Are his ears bothering him? AGAIN? Again, he just woke up 45 min ago. What in the world??? ugh, everything! Greg at one point said, "so do you still want another baby?" I laughed pretty hard and said, "uh not right now, not till Landon can sleep!" So I got Landon in today and the DR said his ears look 'wonderful!' She also said she thinks his stomach just might be pretty messed up from the antibiotics since they were pretty strong. She said to give him a pretty simple diet, lots of water, to avoid juice, give lots of yogurt and also try:

Soo on our way home from the Dr's office we made a pit stop at the grocery store. I went for Pepto, Gatorade and yogurt. I had the munchies and needed a diet Pepsi pretty bad, not to mention it was 101 out, I was thirsty. We came out with the items we needed AND some. We got some frosted animal cookies, trail mix, fresh strawberries, which Landon is devouring right now, Crystal Light (for me for work) and a few other odd off the wall items we absolutely did NOT need. We munched on some animal cookies on the way home. Now my dinner is ruined. Wonderful Priscilla, why do I do this to myself?
I am anxious to try the Pepto tonight. I hope it works, momma needs some rest. I feel like I have a new born and am just starting back to work. Sooo tired, you don't want to move, that is how I feel right now. I could seriously plop on the couch and just veg, or nap. But I'm not, I have a house to clean, laundry to wash and fold and a son to play with. Tomorrow is going to be busy, work 645-130, then go to the gym, pick Landon up after his nap and go swimming at the pool, come home and cook some dinner and then yard work. Maybe, just maybe, Greg will go the back-yard while I am at work in the morning? I think this heat is wearing me down as well. It's just plain hot!

Early Father's Day

Is it vacation time yet? Man, I was hoping it was. I am so excited about our little trip. I am already planning things in my head and I am already wanting to start packing. I know this week is going to slowly creeeep on by. I won't be doing my quick little morning shift,I'll be working 700-430 all week. Looks like I have to hit the gym on my lunch. Oh well, extra spending money for our trip right???

We did a little early Father's Day shopping today. I've been talking to Greg about what he would like. I never really got an answer. I always got the shoulder shrug and a "I dunno." I washed his iPod last week. I know, I felt really bad, I didn't know it was in his gym shorts. I suggested maybe a new one? Didn't really respond to it. I suggested a GPS. I've recommended we get one of these for a while. "ehh." FINALLY a week or so later he said he wanted a GPS. Wonderful! They are on sale this week. We went to Target and got a great deal on a Garmin. We already got it hooked up and had it take us to base. What lame-o's we are, I KNOW! We are totally stoked to use it while we are in San Antonio. There is a Mexican food place I want to go to. Don't remember the name of it or where it is at. Hopefully this thing can help us out. I just remember tons of baskets hanging from the ceiling, a bakery in the front, a really fun place. Dr. Laura if you are reading this, or anyone from the Dental Office, what is the name of that place? I went with you guys!!! Help???

As you can see Greg is super happy about his new Garmin. He wanted to open it on the drive home, I wouldn't let him. I was going to make him wait till Father's Day but the man is like a little kid and wouldn't stop. So I let him have it. I asked if he would just let me take a picture. He walked away with a big sigh, a few min later he came back to the kitchen and I got, "Would you take a picture already so I can open it?" hmph, OK! Open it already. Hence the sarcastic grin on his face. Then I saw him walking around in the back yard with it. I was laughing and didn't get the camera in time to get a picture of that. He said he had to stand outside with nothing obstructing it to get a satalite signal. Sounds right, it just looked funny that's all.

Landon is such a ham. I tried to take his picture and he turned away. What a stubborn child I have. Two year olds are so picky! I just can not figure him out some days. His eating one of them. I can't figure out what to feed him these days. Anytime I ask him what he wants to eat and I always get, "Pizza!" Needless to say he's been eating a lot of pizze lately... I try feding him what we eat, some days he eats, some days he doesn't. Any suggestions for me?

Another issue, one I've ALWAYS had is the sleeping. I just don't get it. I know he is still getting over his ear infection, but the waking up. He should be sleeping through the night. Right? Last night he woke up crying saying, "i'm cold mommy." Now there is no way he should have been cold. He had on pants and a shirt, the air in the house is set to 76 at night and his fan was on. He also had a sheet over him. There is NO way he should have been cold. But we went in and covered him up. Another time he woke up he was looking for his "dorie" fish. He has to sleep with a fish for crying out loud. I ignore those cries, I know he will find her, he has a bright night light, I know he can find her. Two more days of antibiotics and then I am going to see about taking him back to the dr to check his ears to make sure the infection is gone. Maybe the meds aren't working? They didn't in the past.

Anywho, time to go, Greg's cooking dinner, shredded chicken tacos, rice and beans. Landon is watching cartoons and it is time to turn them off. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I hope this week goes by smoothly and quickly. ANY pointers with the sleeping and eating, shoot them my way please!

Making Plans

Sea World here we come! We somewhat have our trip planned. I do know with Greg being in the Military we are all going to get in free. Thanks to Anheuser-Busch they Salute our Hero's! They allow a Military member and 5 dependants in for free. That is just amazing to me, It gives me goose bumps. It's always nice to know that people support our Military. Thank-you.

I've also booked our hotel. We will be staying at the Marriott Rivercenter. It is right on the Riverwalk, and If I remember right there is a mall, or shopping, below the hotel. VERY nice. You all know how much I love to shop. It's been a long time since we've been to San Antonio. I've stayed at this hotel once, I think in 2003 when I was there for a Dental Convention. (I was a Dental Assistant up until we moved to Germany) Greg's last time in San Antonio I believe, is when he graduated Basic Military Training in June of 2003. It has been 6 years! (I think he graduated on June 17, 2003) Anywho, we are ALL very excited about this trip. We were showing Landon pictures of the Sea World website with all the sharks and whales and he was going nuts. He loves this kind of stuff. Greg and I were talking and we can't wait to see the expressions on his face when he sees all of this stuff. It is going to be a trip to remember. I have to take lots and lots of pictures and be sure to take the video camera.

Landon is snoozing, no, he just woke up. We did yard work this morning. We stopped after the front yard. It was 900am and already hot as can be out. We were all dripping sweat, even Landon who was just blowing bubbles. I think we will do the back yard in the morning and just relax in the pool all day. One week of work to go and hopefully two weeks of relaxation. I think we are also going to just hang out around here and enjoy some R&R. WE ALLL need it. Have a wondeful weekend everyone! Stay cool!!!

Beatin' the heat

'Grrrr' show me your muscles.
Yes I think summer is here. It's been HOT! I do love the heat, to a certain point that is. Sometimes the heat here in Texas can really wear you down. We've been taking advantage of the heat by hanging out in our little pool. Landon loves that thing. Today we went to the base pool. It was our first time there. I have no clue why we didn't go last year. Laziness probably, who knows. It was like 95 this afternoon. Hot, just plain hot. A PERFECT day for a dip in the pool. It was very very refreshing. Landon was super excited to go. But....then when it came time to get in, he was a little nervous. It still baffles me as to why he gets so scared or nervous about things.

As you can see I was sitting in the picture below. It slowly got deeper so the kids were able to walk around and have fun. It took about 10 min for Landon to get in, fully wet, then it was no stopping him. It was a little slick on the bottom, especially for a two year old. He went face first and was under for a few seconds till I frantically scooped him up. I was scared, pardon my french, SHITLESS! uhhhhhh, I about died. He coughed for a min or so and then he was OK. It took him maybe a min to get back in the water. But at this point I was holding him and we were floating in the deeper water. He really enjoyed it. He thought he was a 'shark whale' and enjoyed 'kicking' like one. (you can see Aften and Zoey behind us, they came too, Zoey's a little fish, no fear outta her!)

I don't know about you but swimming makes me hungry! We made a quick stop at McDonald's and then came home and scarfed it down. I was very proud of Landon. I want to continue taking him back, I want him to be a little fish! I was pleasantly surprised with the base pool. There were lots of families and kids. Affordable too. Only in the Military do you go swimming and a HUGE B-1 Bomber goes flying very low overhead, and everyone looks up and you hear 'cool' from all the kids mouths. Yeah, I said it too!

On Monday Aften had training so Zoey came over for a few hours and the kiddos played in the pool. Well, Landon continually splashed poor Zoey and she was ready to get out pretty quick, then I went back out later on to pick up because we had a wicked storm coming and I brought in the floaties, YES, they had to wear them around the house. They wanted to wear them to the bath, I was mean and didn't let them. They were stuck to their arms for crying out loud! Their sweaty little arms, haha!!! We have had a storm almost every night this week it has seemed. We need the rain so I am not complaining one bit, I just hate it when the TV goes out when I am in the middle of a show, Don't you just hate that?? On a happy note, It looks like I am going to be getting my leave. Can I get a wahoo? I am sooooo happy and excited. I need a vacation and a break bad. I am really excited for it. I have to work for it, not really, next week I am working 0700-430. A nice long day, and it's going to be a nice lonnnng week that is going to slowly dragggg by.... but I'll do what I have to take a vacation!!
