Pizza Parlor, Mattress's, Booties and Pumpkins

I can't believe that September is almost over! The month has flown by. I'm loving that the holidays are just around the corner and all the stores have everything out. The holiday's will be super special this year since it will be the first for Owen. I've already been looking around the house trying to figure out where I am going to put the tree up!

Thanks for the comments and texts from my last post. I was pretty upset all day long. I am over it now. And get this, I've actually lost some weight! I've been drinking this spinach shake in the mornings and it fills me up. I got the recipe on Pinterest (of course). It's a cup of milk, 1/2 cup Greek vanilla yogurt, tablespoon peanut butter, froze banana and a few handfuls of spinach. I just blend it up and drink away. It does not taste nasty at all. It's actually pretty good.

Owen's been teething. Or so I think he is. He hasn't been sleeping well during the day, not eating too much and chewing and drooling like a maniac. I felt around on his gums and the bottom there is a bump where it feels like he could get a tooth. Now I could be wrong, he is pretty young. But I know babies get teeth around 4 months, and he is only two weeks from that. (I just can't believe that) He's also been hot, and running like a 99.9 temp at times. I've given him some Tylenol and tonight we went and bought some teething tablets. I know those helped with Landon and we will try them on him.

Greg's been busy at work. End of year is October 1st so they have been busy. He had to go in this morning from like 9-3. Tomorrow he goes in at 1130 and will most likely work til midnight. Just in case they get any funds.

When Greg got home we ran to Sam's Club for some formula. They had a thing out front where they were collecting things for the soldiers down range. We went ahead and got two things off the list and had Landon give them to the people. It was so cute when he was telling us he was giving the stuff to the soldiers. Makes me proud. After Sam's we went to this HUGE furniture store called American Furniture Warehouse. There we bought a new mattress! yay! We got a Simmons Pillow top Beauty rest. SO SO SO comfortable and I can't wait til it gets delivered and we are sleeping on it.

The GPS took us through downtown, which was pretty nice and we stopped at a Pizza Parlor called Fargo's. We weren't sure what to expect. And we were in shock when we walked in. It's totally an old timey place. So fun.

There was two floors where you could eat, a big salad bar and an arcade.

The workers were wearing old time lace shirts and long skirts. It was pretty cool. The pizza was great. The atmosphere was pretty cool too. Check out the mannequin couple eating dinner.....

Owen was great too, didn't make a peep!

Here are a few more pictures. Owen was wearing his camo booties that Grammie made him.

And Landon got a tiny pumpkin from the Commissary and drew a face on it.

He was so proud. He named her "star!"

Are you serious?

Seriously did that just happen?

Here is my story:

I am in need of a refil on my Thyroid medication. Since we are new here usually you have to see your doctor and get established. Last week I made an appointment. Today was the day. I haven't been to a doctor on base or a military doctor since October 2007. First off they do no allow any children at appointments. Fine and dandy, except I don't really know anyone. Greg came home to watch Owen so I could go. My appointment was at 1050, and with the whole military you have to be there 15 min before. I literally sat down, filled my paper out and they were calling me back! Awesome!

The nurse was semi nice, not what I am used to with my old doctors in Abilene. I waited a few minutes then the Doctor came in. I was thinking I was going to have a military doctor, but he was a civilian. First thing, he walked in, looked at me and told me to 'sit on the table' and pointed to it. I hopped up, with his back to me he started asking me questions, "You're an active duty spouse? What's your sponsor's last 4? You're here for a refill on your thyroid medication?" He finally turned around and I asked him if they carry the name brand medication that I am on, they didn't at Dyess. He went and called the pharmacy and came back. He then said "You've come at the wrong time. They won't order any special meds till mid October." So I asked if they will order it then? He said they should but again, "You've come at the wrong time!" He was not nice at all. He wrote my RX and told me I needed to go downtown and pay out of pocket if I wanted the name brand. He said he then needed to check me really quick.

I was kinda upset already. He was not a nice man at all. I didn't even know the jerk's name. He checked my eyes, ears and nose as he was talking about jumping out of C-130's. I told him as I was laying back, I don't think I could jump out of a plane. He then said, "I don't think you'd be able to jump out of a plane in the physical condition you are in now anyways." and patted my back and belly. WHAT THE HECK? Are you serious? Did that just happen?

My eyes filled with tears, I didn't want to cry. I didn't want to! He then asked, "Did you just have a baby? Do you have any other children?" I answered with, "Yes I just had a baby and I have a 5 year old son." And I started balling. He turned to me and was kinda shocked and said, "I didn't mean to make you cry," and handed me a tissue box. He then said "You know, now is the time to loose the weight. That wasn't meant to make you upset. Are you breast feeding?"

I just continued to cry. I can't believe this man, and I still didn't even know his name! In the back of my head I kept thinking that Dr. Ward (My OB) would have never acted like this, he was always SO nice. Even when he got on to me about my weight. My primary doctor Dr. Parker would NEVER have acted like that, he was always so friendly! I felt like I was very inconvenient to this guy. Sorry I am not active duty. Sorry you had to take time out of your schedule to see a spouse who is not in the military. And I swear when I was trying to fan my face before I walked out of the room I heard him talking in the hallway saying something about, "Making cry" or something like that.

I know I have A LOT of weight to loose. I know I am fat. But I didn't want to be told like that. I don't even know this guy. I'm already very uncomfortable with my weight. I'm sorry I am not a petite person, I never have been. I'm sorry I am not a size zero. I'm sorry I'm not a super athletic fit person. I have hips and boobs. There is nothing I can do about that! I did NOT bounce back to my pre-baby body like with Landon.

I refuse to go back to that man. I still didn't even know his name until I got home and looked at my RX. It sucked walking out of this huge clinic with puffy red eyes and tears rolling down my face. It sucked to come home to my husband who's face was in shock when he saw me. What a crappy morning.

Any way, sorry for the whinney blog. I know sometimes the truth hurts. I just can't believe it went down like that.

In other news, it's been nice and cool here. And there is snow on the mountains, it's SO pretty!

These pictures are from our window upstairs in the stairwell.

Time to get back to this little guy. He is refusing to sleep longer than 20-30minutes today...

Day of fun

One thing I LOVE LOVE about it here is that there is ALWAYS something to do or something going on somewhere. We love to go out and do things, explore and be busy.

Today it was World Wide Day of Play. It's pretty much encouraging kids to get out of the house and play. I know growing up we were always outside. We would stay out til it was dark. We always had such a good time. Any way, the Youth Center put on a big thing. They had SO many different activities to do. Hula Hoops, dancing, tug o war, soccer (with a HUGE ball), hamster balls (Big ones you get in) bouncy castles, obstacles courses, a golf thing, soccer kicking a healthy snack station and the list goes on.

Landon did a few of the things and it got kinda busy so we left. It was nice to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Owen enjoyed being out in his stroller....

After that we went and ran some errands. Greg and I are due for upgrades on our phones and so we are looking at getting the iPhone5. Of course there is a list every where you go to get one. But we just wanted to explore our options.

Owen is holding toys now. I'm not sure if he realize's he is holding them. I have to put it in his hand! We bought this little strawberry today at the BX. When he bites on it it vibrates. He went to town on that thing! He loves it.

I've started putting bibs on him. He is drooling more now. He is just getting too big.

And here is Landon after his Day of Play, lounging on the couch :)

Another thing we are noticing and loving when we go out is all the stores with the winter stuff. Target totally had an isle of snow sleds, ALL different sorts and winter things. Then we found another aisle with shovels and all the things you need for cars to scrape the windows and brush the snow off with. So funny. I'm excited to see how cold it's going to get. From what we heard it gets pretty stinkin' cold. Oh and at the front of the stores in Texas there was always things for hunting, deer corn and stuff like that. Here it's salt for driveways and stuff and firewood up the wazoo. It's funny how different it is everywhere.

Halloween

I'm excited to see all the Halloween decorations out at the stores. I bought our first bag of candy corn and filled up my apothecary jars! I love all the party stuff they have, the candy and decorations. It really makes me want to decorate or have a party! haha!!

I asked Landon what he wanted to be for Halloween this year and at first he told me Scooby Doo again. I told him no, he was that two years in a row and needed to pick something else out. That costume would have given him an even bigger wedgie this year! lol.

We've gone to a few Halloween stores to check out all the costumes. He decided he wanted to be a ninja! We were so surprised. We didn't buy one yet because we wanted to keep looking and see what all we could find.

I was waiting for Target to put their stuff out and last week when we went we found what he wanted to be! For some reason Landon is really in to Skylanders. If you don't know what that is, it's just a video game for the Wii and Xbox. We don't have the game, but he LOVES to go look at all the figures for the game.

Welllll, Target had Skylander's costumes. When we went back tonight he decided that that is what he wanted to be. So he is going to be Spyro (a dragon) for Halloween. It's pretty cute I think, and HE LOVES it!

Pretty cool huh? When we were driving home from Target we told him to put the mask on and scare the cars next to us. Well a younger lady pulled up next to us and she was cracking up! It was pretty funny. I'm not sure if it scared her or just caught her off guard.

Now we just gotta figure out what we are going to do for Owen. I'm not sure if we are going to dress him up or not. It's pretty cold here, so we shall see!

Getting there!

Our house is starting to feel like a home. I've been working trying to get everything in to place, hanging pictures and unpacking the last of the boxes.

Speaking of unpacking the last of the boxes. On Sunday I went out to the garage to unpack. I went through totes, took things in the house and made a pile for the Airman's Attic. We have some built in shelves by the garage door. I moved a wicker basket that was in our attic in Abilene (Filled with Christmas lights) and there was a HUGE spider. Now just coming from Texas I've seen my fair share of big spiders. Most spiders I just beat them with a shoe and I'm good. But the fact that this spider was right at my face it freaked me out. Plus I've never seen a spider this big that looked like this. If it was a typical wolf spider that we got in Texas I would have just killed it. I've seen some BIG OL' wolf spiders. Any who, I ran inside and got Greg, he went out and killed it for me. I asked him what he though it was. He said he thought it was a brown recluse. CRAP! Those things are bad. Most likely it came in our stuff because I don't think Colorado has them. Now I am a big chicken and don't want to go in the garage or let alone touch ANYTHING! Ick!

In Owen's room I hung a few shelves. Yes those are still pictures of Landon. I was just trying them out. I went to Hobby Lobby and found some cute letters and things I want to get. They were on sale this week so I'll get them when they do go on sale.

I have a mirror I want to hang over his changer, and I need a small table for his humidifier. And of course I want to hang some more pictures and stuff.

I've hung some pictures in Landon's room....

And some pictures at the top of the stairwell.

I still have a ton of pictures to hang and have a pretty good idea of where to hang them. It's a slow process, and eve slower with a little one. It's getting there!

So who is coming to visit? Who is going to be our first visitors??? I'm still not working so I have the time. It's a perfect time :)

Wait, we got some news today that we should be closing on the house by next week. Woohoo! SO excited.

New Chair

One thing we didn't get for Owen was a highchair. I wasn't really too concerned about it. Babies don't eat til 4-6months. Now that we have a Babies R Us 5 minutes from us I've been looking at them.

I thought I wanted to wait another month or so to get one then last night I was thinking. I bet Owen would love a big highchair to sit in in the kitchen while I'm cooking or doing dishes. That way he is in there with me and can see what's going on. I talked to Greg about it and he agreed. It was perfect timing because I got a coupon for 20% off an item.

So this is what we came home with today, I love it, it's so cute, and this little guy seems to like it too...

He looks so little in it. I had him in there and he seemed to like it. It's nice and high and he can be up and seeing things.

We still have a few months before we start any cereals, but I think he will enjoy sitting in there when we are eating and stuff. Maybe I will be able to get more stuff done??

3 Months

Owen Gregor, today you are 3 months old!

It seems like so long ago that I was so anxious for your arrival. Then it seems like just yesterday you were born and then admitted to the NICU. I just can't believe it's been 12 weeks since we welcomed you in to the world. It's been a very fast 12 weeks, I want time to slow down a little!

So Owen, what are you up to these days?

* You wear size 3 months, and some 3-6 months already. I packed away all the newborn stuff, and  the way you are growing the 0-3 and 3 month stuff are soon to follow.

*You are still in a size one diaper.

*You drink 4oz every 3 hours. (Sometimes every 2.5 hours)You are still on Zantac for reflux and it seems to be helping you.

*You usually go to sleep around 7-730pm and are awake between 6-630am. You still never really 'wake' up at night. You start stirring and kicking your legs and become unswaddled and I will feed you. Some nights you don't move til about 4, some nights it's 130am. It just depends. When I feed you you usually suck that bottle down so fast, and you never really wake up.

*Your daily schedule is off. I think  may need to work on it some more. You usually fall asleep on the way home from taking Landon to school. Sometimes you sleep for 5 minutes, other times 30 mins. Some days you will take some decent naps, but most days we get 20-30 minute naps out of you. Some days those naps are enough, some they aren't and you are a fussy boy!

* You still scream and fight your sleep. Not every time, but atleast 2 times a day you will scream your head off because you are tired and won't fall asleep, or sleep long enough.

* You still hate the car and your seat. You are getting better.

*You love your baths and having your hair washed. Your skin is still terrible. You eczema is pretty bad. I keep you lubed up with aquaphor lotion and your other cream from the doctor. I have to trim your nails every few days, they grow like weeds and you are always scratching yourself!

*You love to smile and talk. It's so sweet when you coo away and flash that big smile. Melts my heart.

* You love to be outside and go for walks in your stroller.

*You love your big brother! You are always watching him.

*The TV and lights are catching your attention now. And pretty much all hours of the day your hands are in your mouth and you are chewing away.

* You like your play gyms and are batting at the toys. You also love the blue dog that sings ABC's on your changing table.

*I finally got to hear you laugh yesterday. It was very faint and very brief, but heard it. It's there and I can't wait to hear you laugh! SO SO sweet.

*You are now sleeping in your crib in your room and doing great.

Owen you are such a sweet little guy even though you like to scream and give your mommy a hard time :)  I love that I am getting to stay home with and take care of you (and Landon) right now. There's nothing better then the smiles on your face first thing in the morning and your bedtime snuggles. We love you Owen!

Well hello there!

Dust bunnies actually came off the laptop when I pulled it out today! Just goes to show you I don't get on the laptop, EVER.

Hmmm, it's been about a week since I've blogged. We've had a few things going on.

Wednesday Owen and I met up with my friend Sabrina and we went shopping at the outlet malls in the pouring rain! It was a lot of fun though. I bought a few things and wanted to make a trip back.

Thursday after school Landon's teacher took him to Dairy Queen on an ice cream date! I guess she does it every year. We signed up for a day during meet the teacher. She takes one kid on every Thursday. Landon was super excited, he got a cookies and cream blizzard and I'm pretty sure he talked her ear off. I went and picked him up about 315. Such a nice treat. She said that some of the kids she's taken will take her for ice cream once they start driving. Pretty cool.

Friday night was Owen's first night to sleep in his crib in his room! I was nervous about it, he did awesome, of course. Luckily we have a nice monitor, it's a tv one. So I can see him, helps from me not wanting to get up and down a million times to check on him. That is definitely a life saver. He is still sleeping in there and doing great. It's probably so much more comfy for him than using that hard pack and play.

I'm trying to venture out more with Owen. He still tends to scream in the car. He is doing better... This was our view on the way home from the Commissary. It had snowed the previous day on Pikes Peak.

It looks far, but the mountains are right there. It takes 20 mins and you are at the base of the mountain. So pretty!

I made some cinnamon bread for dessert on Friday night.

We were supposed to close on the house on Friday but the lady buying our house, her divorce papers aren't done yet. We can't close until they are signed. So we are still waiting.....hopefully we can close soon and just be done with it. Ugh!

Saturday I convinced Greg to go back to the outlets. We went on a shopping spree! haha. Poor Landon has outgrown all his clothes. His PJ's were too small, his shorts, some shirts, has no pants and sweaters are all snug.

This was the view on our drive home from the outlets.

I just love it! It made me realize we were in the mountains when there was mandatory chain stations along I25!

The outlets are about 45-50 minutes away, pretty quick drive. We also go right by the Air Force Academy.

Saturday night we went over to a friends and hung out. And Sunday was just a family day. Went to lunch and almost bought the cutest 9 week old, light tan and brown spotted Cocker Spaniel at the mall. They have a huge pet store with TONS of puppies. We fell IN LOVE! Oh my. He was so sweet. Landon was devastated balling his eyes out when we left. We just couldn't fathom spending $749 right now. We are thinking maybe for his birthday or Christmas? Not sure. But man, I fell in love.

Today was a fussy Monday for the boy. I think he had a case of the Monday's again. He just wouldn't sleep longer than 20min, and he turned out to be SO dang grouchy. It makes for one worn out mommy. (And baby!)

I WILL blog tomorrow. Owen will be 3 months, I can't believe it!

Catching Up, AGAIN!

Goodness, I just can't keep up with blogging. I hate it. I want to blog, and have lots to blog about, but I honestly don't open the laptop at all. Sometimes I'll get on the iPad but rarely.

Last time I blogged Owen was being really fussy. We started him on Zantac for Reflux last Thursday. On Friday my Owen was back! The medicine really seemed to help, he was eating and seemed content. I was so relieved, having a screaming child is NO fun and it so hard. He takes Zantac twice a day, and that stuff is nasty, he cringes and shutters every time we give it to him. It breaks my heart.....

Other than that not too much going on. This past weekend we just hung around here and didn't do much. Sunday Owen started getting fussy again, and yesterday Owen was SUPER fussy. All day. It was terrible. I felt bad, nothing I could do helped. I thought it was him being overtired and fighting his sleep. Most likely that is what it was. Because he had such a horrible day we didn't give him his meds at night because he fell asleep so early. This morning he woke up pretty happy and so I didn't give them to him again. I wanted to see if they were helping and if I noticed a difference. He was so happy today, took a great morning nap and was eating pretty good. By 3pm he was spitting a lot, and it was bothering him. Poor guy, I guess the medicine is helping him. I went ahead and gave him some.

So exciting right? Also Owen is 11 weeks today. I can't believe it. He is changing so much. So happy, talking and smiling A LOT, wanting to stand, chewing on his hands constantly, holding his head steady. His poor skin is SO bad. We bought a humidifier to see if that helps and are running it at night. So far we haven't seen much of a difference.....

I went through some totes in the garage and found like three of them full of Landon's old baby stuff. This is Owen trying on his hat! I need to find the picture of Landon wearing it.

Oh yea, we got Owen's crib last night. Since he was out when I brought it home and Greg put it together, I took him in to his room and showed him. He seemed happy about it! lol

Much happier today!

Tonight I made chicken marsala in the crockpot. Turned out pretty tasty!

Landon didn't want to eat it. He did want to hold and snuggle his baby brother....

LOVE these two boys.

Tomorrow I am meeting my friend Sabrina at the outlet malls. I am so excited. Hopefully Owen will cooperate and be in a good mood!!
