Yesterday afternoon we came home from dropping some stuff off at Ditto's For Kiddo's. I still had some totes sitting out in the garage that needed to be stacked back against the wall, and two bags that needed to go up in the attic. So, I stacked the totes back up, then opened the attic and brought the stairs down. I grabbed the two bags I needed to take up. One had an egg crate that my mom uses when she comes, and the other is a ball pit and some balls. Both bags were super light, I was just going to toss them up there. Landon was standing beside the stairs. I got about half way to 3/4 of the way up and the stairs moved (they weren't pushed in all the way) and I flew backwards off the stairs. I had lost my balance. I remember falling, and I remember my head hitting the cement garage floor. I tried to turn over and I tried to say "Oh my gosh" but I couldn't speak. My words were jumbled. Landon was saying, "I'm sorry mommy." I told him it was OK, he didn't do anything, I just fell. I opened the car door, things were spinning and fuzzy, black and white. I was scared. I searched for my cell phone. When I found it I didn't know who to call? It was 430pm on a Friday afternoon. Everyone was working.
I would have called the neighbor's down the street, they were out of town. I called the fire station, but didn't know who answered the phone. I asked for our friend Raz but he wasn't working. So I called his cell phone. He just lives 5 minutes down the road, and he came over. He felt the huge bump on the back of my head and said yes I needed to go to Hospital. While I was waiting for him to come over I was frantically searching for Landon's things and getting his backpack packed in case something happened and he needed to stay some where. I grabbed him dinner and snacks and some juices too. Raz came over and we loaded up in his truck and headed to the hospital.
I felt OK. I felt a little dizzy, weird, and in pain, but nothing I couldn't handle. I told Raz to take Landon and I would call someone to come with me. So Landon went to Raz's house and watched Scooby Doo on Netflix. The waiting room was jam packed, one girl said she had been there since 100pm. It was pushing 5o'clock, great. I went on Face book on my phone to keep my mind off of it. My friend Teresa I work with ended up coming up to the hospital to surprise me. She came for a minute, we talked and I felt like I was going to black out. Then I started balling. She went and got somebody and they got me back immediately. I waited for the Dr for about 20-25 minutes. I was still feeling faint and now like I was going to vomit.
So the Dr came in, and I started balling. I was so scared and worried. I was worried because I was alone. I was worried because what if something happened to me and Landon would be alone? I was just so upset and scared. She calmed me down, got me checked out. She said I just have a pretty good concussion with a nice bump. It's about the size of my hand across the back of my head. My left hip is sore, and I have a huge knot/bruise on my right calf. I think my leg got stuck in the step. Can't figure that one out yet. She said she was going to get my some pain meds for the headache.
About 20 minutes later the RN came in with some medicine. Aften showed up shortly after. I was so happy to have her there. I was starting to worry again and now I was feeling really sick. I told her to please talk and keep my mind from wandering. So she did that. I finally got discharged about 830pm. As we were walking out to the car I started feeling better, the shot was finally kicking in. We went and picked up Landon from Raz's house, and then stopped by my house to get some over night stuff. The DR said I need to be woken up every 2 hours to make sure I was OK. I couldn't be alone. So Landon was more than thrilled to hear we were having a slumber party at the Gardner's house!
These pictures were from this morning. We got to bed late. I didn't need Aften to wake me up. I tossed and turned all night. I did get some sleep though.
I felt pretty good this morning. Beau made us breakfast and we lounged around. It was nice and cool outside and was pouring. A perfect morning. Zoey served Landon and I grapes..
She was so silly. Aften dropped Landon and I off at home a little before noon today. Now we are home. I had to make Landon lunch and I got a little light headed when doing that. But I am good. I rested on the couch a lot. I've been alternating Motrin and Tylenol and have felt OK. As the day is moving on I am feeling more and more stiff.....but oh well! I am just thankful I am OK!
Landon didn't want to nap after lunch, I didn't fight him. He was being so good and was just playing away while I rested on the couch. Around 245 he sat down by me and asked if it was sleepy time. I told him it wasn't. 2 minutes later his eyes were closed.

I was so upset last night and kept saying how stupid I felt, and how bad I felt for ruining peoples evenings and having to have people take care of me. Aften told me on the phone and it really sunk in, she said, "Priscilla, you can't always be in control and be in charge of everything. You have to allow and let people help you out sometimes. It's OK to be helped." She was so right. I hated the fact that I wasn't in control, but I realized, it was OK to not be in control. Thank-you Aften for getting that into my stubborn head. Thank you so much to everyone for contacting me to make sure I am OK and if I need help. Thank you to Raz for coming over and taking me to the ER and watching Landon. Thank you to Teresa for coming to the hospital to visit me. Thank you to Aften for coming to the hospital and making me laugh and taking care of me last night. Thanks for letting us stay in your house, thanks to Zoey for brushing my hair this morning and making me look like "Pippy" and to Beau for making breakfast. It really showed me what amazing friends I have!
