Super Hero's and Pumpkins

With Landon's birthday just around the corner I have been keeping my eye out for things to get for his party. I'm still on the hunt for the Justice League plates, I found a site that had them, and when I went to purchase them the site had something up with it so my laptop wouldn't allow me to buy anything.....SO..

I found some super hero Halloween candy at the Commissary so I grabbed those. I can put those in the loot bags, we also found some stickers at Hobby Lobby for dirt cheap, so we grabbed two packs, and I found the '5' cup cake toppers for super cheap and I figured we could used those to take cupcakes to his class on his actual birthday! So things are slowly coming together, thanks to the ever so addicting Pinterest, I've got lots of great ideas.

Now that it's fall, even though it doesn't really feel like it here in Texas, it's still HOT, there are pumpkins every where we go. Landon of course is getting antsy and excited and keeps asking if we can carve a pumpkin. I told him that thing would be mush by Halloween, so we decided to get a small one and some paint and let him have at it.

He was so cute painting it, he made a face and hair on it.

He asked me again today if he could paint his pumpkin again, looks like we may have to grab another one when we are out this weekend!

(He did that all by himself! So proud)

I've been a cleaning woman today. Getting ready for company always has me cleaning weird things, do you find yourself doing that too? Happy Hump Day

Internet

I've been trying to blog since Saturday night, and our internet was going in and out! It was so darn frustrating. I would get on, start blogging, get all my pictures I wanted to download and then our internet would go out. We messed with it for a few days and Greg finally got it working yesterday. Good thing I have my iPhone and could get on Facebook and stuff, I would have been a mess.

So this is kinda late but Saturday we went to the Hot Air Balloon Fest here in town. I went last year with Meagan and Landon. I had fallen out of the attic the night before so I was a tad off, it had been pouring rain for a few days so it was extremely muddy, there was people there, but not too many, it was totally opposite this year. It was about 100 degrees out, hasn't rained in months, and it was jam packed with people!

We met our friends Meagan and Anthony, Donae, Aubree and Jaxson for some fun.

There was a bouncy castle area for kids, food booths, some vendors, some games, the hot air balloons (of course) and a few other random things...

Once the sun was going down they had all the balloons 'light' up and 'glow.' It was pretty neat, the kids really liked it, and the guys were amazed as to how those things don't catch on fire, typical firefighters!

We enjoyed the company and being out and about!

I have lots of other things to blog about and to catch up on, I've also got lots to do around the house, my Dad and Alma are coming for a visit, they'll be here Thur-Mon, I'm so excited!!

Technology

Landon is very in to playing games on our iPhones. The other day while he was playing he asked me, "Mommy? What games did you play on the phone when you were little? Did you have Angry Birds and Cut the Rope too?" I had to laugh. I told him he was a very lucky boy and that we didn't have games on phones, let alone cell phones when I was growing up. It is still so amazing to me how good kids are on these things! He LOVES it.

We rarely use our desktop computer anymore. When walking around Target we decided to get Landon a computer game to play. He used to enjoy going on Nick Jr and those websites and playing things. We picked up a Disney Learning game for Preschoolers. There is a Mickey Game, Winnie the Pooh and a shark game, so three different disc's.

He is enjoying his game, and it's crazy to watch how well he can maneuver the mouse and how he knows how to work it all. I know when I was 4 I sure as heck didn't play with no computers or phones. We had us a Nintendo and Sega and spent a majority of our time outside! My how times have changed!

Heavy Heart

This week has been overwhelming. I've had a few wild days at work, I come home and don't want to move! I can't seem to catch up, or keep up with anything. I am so thankful and lucky to have an awesome, caring, and patient husband, as well as a sweet, cuddly and funny little boy who love me unconditionally.

My heart is heavy tonight. When Greg dropped Landon off at his before care he was handed a letter by the desk clerk. A 3 year old little girl went home sick vomiting yesterday. Her parents took her to the hospital last night and she ended up passing away. It just breaks my heart. From what we've heard she was a very healthy little girl. Nobody really knows exactly what was wrong and why she was so sick. I just can't imagine what her poor family is going through right now. Please keep this family in your prayers, as I am sure they need them.

Things like that jolt you back to reality. Never take anything or anyone for granted. Always make sure to give and extra hug, kiss & I love you.

You just never know what can happen.

Birthday planning

Ok, first off I want to admit, I am addicted to Pintrest. I've read so many blogs about it and thought it was weird, but then I decided to try it, now I am hooked. I think mainly because I have been looking for stuff for Landon's 5th birthday and it's helped me tons! I've found so many wonderful things on there, and it's helped me to keep track of all my findings.

I love this banner, it's made out of comic book pages, genius!
Must have this banner for Landon's party! Love it

I liked the idea of this cake, Simple but pretty cool. Landon is in love with Wonder Woman, but I thought it would be cool to do a picture of all the Justice League on there to go with the theme.
Landon is in love with Wonder Woman

And I stumbled across these on Etsy. What a simple and cute idea, a great party favor to send home.
Who would have thought? So stinkin' cute!

You can go Here to check out my pintrest and boards. (That's for you mom)

Today we had a conference with Landon's teacher. She offered them when we had parent/teacher night and wanted to meet with parents one on one to get to know us. It was quick, but I felt really good leaving the class. She seems to really like Landon, and it sounds like he is doing really well. He is learning so much being there, it's one of the best decisions we made putting him in! He LOVES it.

I am so ready for bed already, I am ready to put today behind me and start fresh tomorrow! (Just had one of those days at work.)

Weekend of Fun

Our weekend started off with a bang! I was SO happy to see Friday and clock out of work for the day. When Greg got home we went to eat and then hit the local fair. I went for the first time last year when my mom and Bob came to visit. I don't know why we have never been in the past! This year it was free for all Military I.D card holders, so we all just walked right in. Even better.

It usually pours rain every year during the fair. This year it rained a little, nothing like it normally does. But nothing in Texas has been normal this summer. The little rain we had was welcome, but no where near what we need.

Landon was SO excited to be at the fair. He wanted to ride all the rides right away and was smiling ear to ear, talking a hundred miles an hour. Our first stop was the petting area...

We bought a few tickets and Landon ride some rides. He is still not quite bit enough to ride alone on some of the rides, almost...

He liked the cars, they actually went pretty fast. After the cars he wanted to go down the slide. It said he had to go with an adult, but when he got to the top he went down by himself. It made me so nervous, he flew down that slide.

He had the biggest smile on his face ever.

Then Landon and I went on the forever long roller coaster. I am not like I used to be, spinning rides and loops and stuff make my stomach a little queasy nowa days.

He paid a visit to Dumbo then played some darts where he was really good at! He popped a lot of balloons and won himself a snake!

The sky got dark and it started raining on us. We went in and looked at all the booths til it passed and then bought some fresh squeezed lemonade and a funnel cake. WE walked back around for a little bit then decided to call it a night. It was a lot of fun!

Saturday we got up and ran some errands and then had a birthday party to go to. It's one of his little friends from his class, and he really likes her.

It was pretty warm out, and the kids went out to play, jump on the trampoline and ride the tree swing.

We got home about 4 and shortly after I had to be at work. I worked from 445-1115, it was Give Parents a Break and Parents night out. Landon and Greg rented a movie and made some pizza.

Today has been a relax day. Went to Target and Walmart this morning, I made pork carnita's in the crock pot, Greg watched football while Landon played and helped me do things around the house. Hope you had a good weekend!

Halloween

I don't know if it's the weather change today or what. (It cooled off today and rained a little bit) But I've been in Holiday mode. We've been discussing Halloween and what Landon wants to dress up as this year, then I started thinking about what Halloween decorations I have, so I decided to get them out and put 'em up!

I always remember my mom decorating the house growing up, she went all out for Halloween! I LOVED it. I don't go all out, I am not that creative, but I do like to put some decorations around the house.

I put a few things on my kitchen table...

While I've been digging around and putting things out the boy has been mastering Cut the Rope on Greg's iPhone.

I've been in a cleaning mode as well. I washed, dried and put away 4 loads of laundry, cooked dinner, cleaned up after dinner, cleaned out my catch all cabinet in the kitchen, packed Landon's lunch, cleaned out the fridge and pantry, organized the shoe closet and gave Landon a bath!

I've got my holiday smells in my Scentsy pot...

....and the few Halloween decorations make it feel like it's almost fall! I can't believe we made it through the intense Texas summer.
