Around the house

Our house is starting to feel like 'home.' Nothing will ever compare to owning your home and it actually being your home. We are trying to make this house feel homey and like it's ours. It's hard, not going to lie, but it is looking better and getting that way. 

We learned from our house that it costs a lot to hang curtains. You have to buy the curtain rod, then the curtains, and tie backs if you need them. Luckily our old house didn't have too many windows. Oh and we had to put in blinds. The perks of having a new home. When the lady bought our house she wanted all the drapery. And we were willing to do what we had to do to sell the house. SO, when we got to Colorado we weren't too eager to hang curtains. We were also lucky it came with blinds. I guess you can call them vertical blinds? They are cheap, but they do the job. 

Well we've slowly bought some curtains and hung them. We got the new rug in our living area and we also bought some new couches. Suede couches with children's and an old senile cat were no bueno. We had been wanting new couches for a lonnnnnng time. We almost bought a sectional when we were in Texas before we knew about moving. Glad we didn't because it wouldn't have fit in this house. 

So we ended up getting leather couches. I LOVE them. They aren't 100% leather, that would have been wayyyyy too expensive. But these are easy to take care of with kids, just wipe them off. They are SO comfy too. 

Here are the curtains in our dining area. I got them at Target. I like them. Think they go pretty well. 

We are starting to eat in here again. We were eating at the kitchen bar thing. We realized it wasn't right, we were on our phones, watching TV and not having that family time. SO we've moved back to here and have been turning the TV off, leaving the cells in the living room and enjoying our family time. I know it's important to have a family dinner, and we always do, just we found ourselves wandering to the TV and what not. Do you know what I mean?

Here are our new couches. We got the sofa, love seat and rocker recliner for $937!

Very cluttered with baby stuff I know! Here is a view of the opposite direction. We have our computer over here, and I set up Owen's pack n play in the corner for naps and to set him in. We need a computer chair and I have shelves and pictures to hang over here....it's just getting to it.....

It's starting to feel like a home. What do ya think?? I need some visitors please!!!!! Who wants to come to Colorado?

New Car

We've been wanting to get a new car for a while. We've wanted something bigger ever since we had Owen. When my mom and Bob were visiting we had to take two cars if we all went anywhere, that was  NO fun. 

So We've been researching what we wanted. Greg really wanted a Pathfinder. His dad has one and so we are kinda familiar with it. We also noticed that they have a new body style. We weren't really fond of the new style.

My car was paid off in December. We wanted to wait to get a new car so we could save that $400 a month. Well, it only last two months. The more and more we thought about it the more we wanted a new car. Also, with the weather and snow and they don't close school's down here very often so I was still having to take Landon, and the roads get bad! We needed something with 4WD. 

We worked out every possible scenario trying to figure out what we could 'afford', we don't want to go car broke. One Sunday we went and looked at the new Pathfinder's when the dealers were closed. We decided we liked the new ones, and after researching we found that the new ones get better gas mileage  the third row is easier to get up and there is more space. SO, a week later we went for a test drive....

We got a 2013 Pathfinder. We just got the basic S model, which is a HUGE upgrade compared to what we have. It's so roomy and big! I LOVE IT!

We got a decent price due to the USAA app. We also got some things added on, like a tow hitch and the Rocky Mountain package. We also got free oil changes for 7 years and bumper to bumper for 7 years. (I think) They also do free car washes, you just show up and they'll wash your car! Sweet!

See Landon alllllll the way back there? I was worried because most third rows are cramped and not comfortable. BUT, this is pretty roomy and comfy. 

We didn't get leather, not really needed, we also went with the basic because we didn't need the back up camera or the bluetooth. Those are things that really upped the cost, but like I said, something we don't need. 

They had to transfer the car from Denver so we didn't get it til like 6pm Saturday night. Sunday morning we were SO excited we got up in our PJ's and went for a drive around base. It was also my first time to drive the car.....

So, now we feel like grown ups. I love driving it and am so happy we decided to get it! We've also had some other things going on around here. Since no one is sick now (knock on wood) maybe i'll have time to get some blogging in!!

8 Months

Mr Owen, today you are 8 months old!! 

I just can't believe that you are 8 months old already. In 4 short months you will be a year old. You are no longer a 'baby' and are turning in to such a big and funny boy. 

So Owen, what are you up to these days???

~ You are wearing 6-9 month and 9 month clothes. You have outgrown most of your stuff. Time to start buying more things! 

~ You are still in a size 3 diaper. 

~ You weigh roughly 17lbs 16oz. 

~ You have two teeth still, both on the bottom. I think you are getting close to maybe getting your top two.

~ You were in and out of the doctors last week because you weren't feeling well. Turns out you had a double ear infection. You were miserable but seem to be back to yourself lately, thank God! It was bad.

~ You haven't been eating great, but, when you are well you usually eat 6oz every 3 hours and have jar food once a day. I think it's time to up it to a fruit in the morning and veggie at night. At 8 months Landon was starting table food, I just don't think you are ready.

~ You love banana's. So far you've had: bananas, apples, pears, apples and blueberries, squash, apples and butternut squash, sweet potato's and carrots. 

~ On your normal days you are in bed between 7-730pm and are up for the day 6-630am. Some nights you'll sleep all the way through, some nights you'll wake up early, like 4-5 for a bottle. Just depends. Last night was the first night you have slept straight through and we had to wake you in the morning. 

~ You usually take 2-3 naps a day. Most of the time 30min. The past few days you've taken great naps and it's been nice.

~ You LOVE your big brother. You are so lucky because you have a great big brother who loves you and plays with you alllll the time.

~ You want to stand all the time. If we hold your hands you'll take steps. Uh oh!

~ You started crawling, Army crawling on Valentine's day. You are still learning. You like to roll every where. And you are trying to pull up.

~ You love to be naked and you love your baths.

~ Your skin is still doing ok. You have bouts of dry spells, and when you do I just lube you up. 

~ I haven't given you your acid meds for a week and you are doing ok. I hope we are done with those.

~ I think you are going to be our rough and tough one. You grab and pull on us and I've already caught you trying to bite my shoulder. 

~ You are a happy baby. You smile A LOT. You like to scream and babble. You still say da-da, Ma-ma (occasionally) and ba-ba. 

~ You love strings. Anything that has some what of a string or something you grab it. You love the strings on daddy's hoodie. You also like to grab the handle for the blinds. 

~ Your little nails grown like weeds. They get SO sharp. You are just like your daddy and brother, they are the same way.

~ You love all your toys. 

~ You never keep your socks on.....

~ And you are a HUGE mommies boy. 

You are so fun now Owen. This is a hard age, but a fun age. I love to watch you watch things and figure things out. We are excited for you to start getting around. 

My oh my how you've changed. Makes me so sad how fast it's going. But we sure do love you Mr. Owen!

Valentines Week

Well, this week was a whirlwind of a week. Let's rewind to last Saturday shall we?

Landon woke up Friday night early Saturday with his croupy cough. It's nothing new for him, any time he gets any kind of cold he gets that croup cough. Saturday he woke up a tad stuffy and still had a cough. Nothing bad, just random coughing throughout the day. We went to Dick's Saturday afternoon and Landon coughed a few times and said it hurt his heart. So, we got a referral for a walk in clinic and I took him.

I love the walk in clinic that we go to. They are so nice, it's clean and they are fast! Any who, everything looked good with Landon. He said he probably had viral bronchiolitis or RSV. He said to be careful with the baby at home and if it gets worse then come back. He said of course there is nothing they can do for that, just Motrin, Tylenol and some Mucinex for his cough. 

Sunday he seemed great. Yay! I was still a worry wart and cleaned the house and what not. Monday Landon woke up and was fine. Still same cough and congestion, nothing bad. I picked him up from school and he seemed out of it. His eyes were glassy, he was VERY emotional. When we got home he went striaght to the couch and laid down. Sure enough, 102 fever. He was coughing, sneezing, his eyes were puffy and watery and he was miserable. He complained of his throat and head.

Once his meds kicked in he was playing and seemed ok. He ate dinner normal. That night he slept ok, coughed a lot and sneezed. He woke up with a fever the next morning. I went ahead and tried to make an appointment. They were full so I got a referral to go off base. 

They said his throat was pretty red, swollen and looking nasty. Good thing was his lungs were clear. He said since he was diagnosed as viral on Saturday and then bam it hit him Monday, whatever he had turned bacterial. So he went and ahead and put him on some antibiotics. They tested for strep but that was negative so he said he has Pharyngitis. I'm guessing he also had bronchiolitis on top of that. That is also bad because that is also like RSV. So again, we were told to keep a close eye on the baby. RSV can be pretty dangerous. 

Leaving the doctor I was happy to have a diagnosis but was still worried about Landon and of course this spreading to Owen. Poor Landon had to stay away from the baby, had to sit and rest on our 'sick' couch. I felt bad, but I had nothing else I could do. I cleaned the house top to bottom at least 2-3 times a day. I washed everything. I went in to crazy germaphobe mode. Ick.

He ran a fever up until Wednesday morning. He was coughing like crazy and sneezing. I felt so bad. He was starting to feel better so we let him go to school on Valentines Day. He came home tired that day and like a 100 temp. By bed he was fine and then this morning he hasn't had a fever. His coughing has gotten better and not so much, and I don't think I've heard him sneeze at all. I kept thinking the whole time that he had the flu.

I'm still worried sick about Owen getting whatever it is that Landon had. He's been sneezing a lot and I've heard a few coughs, but nothing out of the normal. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that Owen can steer clear of the sickness. (Greg and I too)

Here are some pictures for the week. Saturday we made pretzels. We bought an Auntie Annie's pretzel kit from Landon's fundraiser and finally made them. They tasted good, but looked funny.

Sunday I made a pot roast, mac and cheese, broccoli, fruit dip and strawberries for a friend who just had a baby. I dropped it off for dinner for them. I also made Landon's snack he had to bring on Monday. I dipped wafer cookies in white chocolate. MMMMM, they were good.

Wednesday night when Landon was feeling a lot better he sat down to write out his Ninja Turtle Valentines. 

Valentine's day was kinda chilly. By lunch we had a nice little blizzard going on. 30 minutes later it was sunny...... 

I got spoiled by my boys. I got a dozen long stem roses and a beautiful mixed bouquet of flowers. 

We grabbed Chipotle to go and ate dinner at home. 

Happy first Valentine's Day Owen! 

His first Valentine's day he decided to start crawling...uh oh...

My poor sick Landon. 

Any string or any kind hangin around Owen, he'll grab it. One of his favorite things. We wear hoodies whenever we go anywhere so that Owen has something to grab and to keep him quiet.

For dessert we had a Cold Stone ice cream cake, chocolate covered strawberry.....

Yummy!

Landon has also been working on his ST Math homework at home. It's incredible the things he knows and has learned already. 

This was from today. I took Owen's bib off to get a new one, and he is drooling so much this is what happened to his shirt before I could grab another....

We had a great Valentine's day, even though our week went nothing like we had planned. I am hoping with this three day weekend the rest of us can stay healthy and we can enjoy it.
