A walk to the park

A blog two days in a row? I know, you must be shocked! haha.

We finally went for a walk around the neighborhood. I've been wanting to go for a walk for a while. There are nice sidewalks and parks around here. Plus I like to snoop and I liked to look at all the different houses.

Owen loves to be out in his stroller, and since we can actually be outside and not die from the heat, we've been taking him out more. We will go for a walk to the mailbox and today I put him in his stroller while we got some boxes together. He was happy as a clam!

There was some big boulders in the park. Landon wanted to just sit on those. There was also a skate park there and some other things. Nice little place.

LOVE this little guy.....

We then walked back to the park that is behind our house. He liked it better there....he was able to play and run around....

Owen just watched!

Owen and I headed back to the house and Greg and Landon stayed behind and played for a while. This is another thing I like about living on base. Nice, clean, safe parks that are right around the corner.

Today was a down day for the base so Greg was off. We took Landon to school and he had a HUGE meltdown. We felt awful and weren't really sure what it was about. We were already planning on having lunch with him. It just broke our hearts. We headed back for lunch and Landon was SO happy to see us. He ate lunch while we visited with him and his friends, then we ended up signing him out and taking him for the day. I don't think he liked the fact that Greg and I were both off and had Owen and he had to be at school. Poor guy.

We spent the day shopping and when we got home I went through a few boxes in the garage, took some stuff to the Airman's Attic and Greg got rid of alllllll the empty boxes. WE can now walk through the garage! woohoo!

Now we are snuggling on the couch....

Excited to see what the weekend has in store for us!

Rambling

This is going to be my ramble post. I feel like rambling.......

I'm glad this week is coming to a close. It hasn't been a bad week, but it's been a tiring one if that makes any sense? Owen is finally feeling better from his shots. He didn't do too bad but he was sore and fussy. He just wanted mommy and to be held!

Owen has been on the Soy milk since Monday night. We can't figure out if he doesn't like it or is just not hungry due to his shots and all the changes. He is drinking it, but just not as much. His BM's seem to be better. Sorry, that may be TMI. His skin is about the same. His head is the same as well, no change with using the Head & Shoulders. I'm still wondering if he has some reflux, but we are going to give this soy stuff a week and then see what's up. We called and have an appointment for next week to check for reflux.

Yesterday I decided that I was going to go to Sam's Club, just Owen and I. Now I remember why I don't go anywhere alone, just him and I. Like I said I decided to go to Sam's, Owen had just been fed and changed and he wasn't due for a nap. He was in a good mood, so I packed the diaper bag and loaded him up in his car seat and we headed out. As soon as we turned on to the main road he started fussing. I figured he just wanted the car to move. He continued to cry, as it turned in to a scream. Then it turned into I'm pissed off screaming bloody murder. We finally got to Sam's, which isn't that far but we got stuck in construction traffic. As soon as I got the seat out of the car he stopped. WE got in Sam's and it started again, I COULD. NOT. GET. HIM. TO. STOP! I felt so bad. He was screaming. Everyone was staring. EVERYONE. I walked straight to the exit. Stopped and tried to get him to calm down again. Nothing. As soon as I walked out the double automatic doors he literally passed out in my arms and fell asleep. OMG. So I went back in, ran to the back to get water and formula and we headed home. He slept on the way home and for a few min once we were home. Then he was fine. Ugh! He's been doing that, getting mad and upset and hard to calm down. It's tiring, and I feel terrible.

Today I needed to go to the Commissary. It's 2 miles down the road. I got brave and we headed out. He started fussing in the car. Great! He took his pacifier, thank God, and then he was ok. Once we got in the store he fussed and fell asleep. WHEW! Oh and the Commissary here by the way is HUGE! Gigantic!! It is SO nice. With it being so nice and big, it's always busy. But it's worth it. No matter what day of the week and what time it is there is always a ton of people there. The BX is huge too. And it is always busy with people in it. It's weird because back at Dyess half the time you'd be the only one in the BX when you would go. NOT here!

In other news, I am debating on when applying to go back to work. I would love to not go back. But I like the lifestyle of me working and us being able to do things and spend money when we want. I just received my last pay check last week. Greg will get his new paycheck on the 1st. We are still up in the air about all our bills, what his new pay is, and what our new bills will be here. We've received all our final bills from our house this week. I also have to think about what we will pay for daycare and what I will bring home. After care is $57 a week for Landon, for Owen it will be about $130 a week for care. I would bring home one whole paycheck, if I am getting decent hours. That is another thing. The newbie doesn't always get hours. The newbie doesn't always get a good shift and tends to work the shifts that no one wants. I am so used to the morning shift, I have done it for years, I don't know what I would do if I had to work til 6-615 every night. It's different now with a baby. But, it may be worth it. I just don't know. Another thing is, they are hiring right now for new classes. I would be hired on fast, which usually isn't the case for CDC's. I just don't know.

We are still loving it here in Colorado. The weather is amazing! I love walking down the stairs and looking at the mountains. I love that it gets cloudy in the afternoons. I love that it's cool in the evenings and morning. I love that Landon's school is two minutes away. I love that we are close to the BX/Commissary. I love that Greg comes home for lunch daily and is home 5 mins after he gets off work. I love all the shopping and food. I love that there is a million things to do around here. I do miss living off base. I miss having 'our' house, knowing our neighbors. I miss our friends, I miss my work and work friends. I miss running in to people when we go out. I've yet to meet a single person here so far. I do know one girl from Dyess that's here. I've talked to her and we've been texting. She is now back to work though. I also know another girl who I worked with in Germany. She took care of Landon when he was a baby. And we have Sabrina who lives in Denver. I've joined some Facebook groups and what not. It's time to meet some people!

Slowly I've been getting things up on the walls. I am used to my bare house and I am worried I am going to over do it. Here is the half bath.

That's done. There is a small hallway over there I am going to hang some pictures up. We also have lots of walls going up the stairs and I may do a picture collage on there. I've seen some cute ideas on Pinterest.

We are waiting to close on the house to buy a bigger TV for the living room. So the one we have now is just sitting there. We will eventually hang our new one. I'm kinda waiting til that happens to hang anything in the living area.

Plus there is baby stuff galore and it feels cluttered already.

Greg has a 4 day weekend this weekend. I am so happy. We will get the day together tomorrow, I am excited. When Landon is around Greg and I don't get a word in, any time we talk or try Landon has something to say! lol.

I'm about to take three big boxes over to Airman's Attic. When Greg gets home from work I'm going to go through my clothes as well. Time to purge. Plus I am so fat most of my stuff doesn't fit! haha!!!

Well Baby

Today we finally had Owen's 2 month well baby appointment. It was something I was looking forward to due to some questions, but also I was dreading going because I knew Owen would be getting shots.

I'm very thankful Greg was able to get out of work to come with me. For some reason I was so nervous about going and the shots. I don't remember being like this with Landon. Any who. Here are some stats on the little man.

At 8 weeks Owen is

12lbs 0 oz

22 inches long

head 16 1/4 inch

As the nurse said you are 'short and fat!'

We asked about Owen's skin. She said Owen does have eczema, and  the dryness of Colorado probably triggered it. She gave us a cream with hydro-cortisone in it and a huge tub of Aquaphor. I also asked about some other things we've noticed, like the spitting up, but it's a weird spit up and his BM's, they are always pretty watery/loose. We've decided to try Owen on Soy milk. Milk could also be triggering his skin issues. She also said his head is indeed cradle cap and to use Head&Shoulders or TGel and that can help. I felt good about the appointment. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty nervous about taking him on base. The lady we saw was a nurse practitioner and a civilian. She actually was really good, the nuse, a SSGT was also really good so it made me feel better. We talked about everything that happened when he was born and our concerns about if he was to get a fever and she said we can call the appointment line after hours and the message will go straight to the pediatrician's. Whew! I guess we got spoiled taking the boys off base and all the after numbers we could call and care we could get.

Poor Owen cried his eyes out when he got his shots. I felt SO SO SO bad. It was hard to calm him down. But eventually he did. He seems sore tonight, we've given him some Tylenol tonight and started him on his soy milk and he seems to be ok.

In other news...

Saturday we had an old friend from high school who lives in Denver come for a visit. She was in our wedding and we haven't seen her since she visited us in Germany in June 2004! Sabrina!!!

It was so good to see her. She is the same ol' Sabrina. I'm glad we are close and will get to hang out more often.

Here is my poor baby with his band aid legs. So sad.

We went to Target tonight to get Landon some more allergy medicine some light bulbs and bar stools.  Bar stools are pretty darn expensive, well the nice ones I like are. haha! But we did find these at Target and I really like them!

Landon was so sweet when he got home today. He was very concerned about Owen and if he was feeling ok.

Other than that I feel like I have a million things to do but can't. S-l-o-w-l-y things are getting done around here. Greg has a 4 day weekend so it will be nice to try to get everything done!

Unpacking

Now that the week is almost over things have finally calmed down. We had been SO stinkin' busy trying to get everything together. Everything from transferring bills, canceling bills, worrying about the stuff going on with the selling of the house. Moving in to this house we needed to get and set up internet, Dish and washer and dryer. We needed a rug for the living area. Moving is a lot of work. It's expensive and it's hard with a newborn! I'm so thankful I was smart and got Landon's school stuff and clothes while we were still in Texas.

There is no school today, it's a testing day. I took Landon in for his assessment. He did well. She said we need to work on lower case letters and sounds. Other than that she said he is very well behaved, so polite and sweet and he is going to do great. Yay Landon!!!

SO I've slowly been unpacking boxes and trying to get this house put together. It's a lot harder having a newborn and Greg going back to work. Last weekend my goal was to get a room done at a time and I wanted the down stairs or the kitchen at least unpacked and put away. We have so much junk it's not even funny. I some how managed to fit everything in the cabinets!

Monday I tackled Landon's room after he went to school and got that done. Tuesday I didn't get much of anything done because I couldn't get Owen to sleep or put him down. The past few days I've been able to hang some things, get Owen's room pretty much unpacked and slowly worked my way in to ours. I usually get about 10-15 mins at a time to unpack and put things away. By then Owen is ready for a change of scenery and we move on! haha.

I hung a few pictures over my kitchen sink. One thing I miss is the window above my sink and the ledge....

This is the dining area. It looks too cluttered to me. ..gotta figure something out.

This it the computer area right next to the kitchen. I still have a ton of stuff to hang and this is where some of it's at!

This is the view when we walk down the stairs.

Had to throw in Owen....

This is going up the stairs, we have a nice big window with a NICE view.

This is looking out the window. I find myself stopping every time I go down and looking out the window at the mountains. I LOVE it. It reminds me of California and home so much. You can see some of the other housing....

Here is Landon's room. I've got everything put away but haven't hung any pictures or anything yet.

I LOVE the sliding doors on the closet. It makes it SO much bigger and we can store his toys in there and he can actually get to them!

Here is Owen's poor room. Not much in here......

He has a nice big walk in closet, and it's filled. Greg's uniforms are in there, Owens clothes, toy box and boxes and boxes of pictures and stuff that was in the spare bedroom closet before we moved. His crib still isn't put together because they lost some screws. They handed us a pack of screws when they packed our stuff up, when they were unloading and putting things back together I handed them the bag that was handed to me and there weren't enough parts. SO, we aren't sure what to do, go to Lowe's and get more parts, or get a new crib. This one is still in good shape but it has the drop side. They no longer sell those, and you are supposed to get a kit to fix it and drill through it. The drop sides are very dangerous and I don't know if I can let Owen sleep in it! We will see this weekend....

This is the boy's bathroom. Nice and big and long. Lots of storage.

This is our bathroom, nice and narrow and small. We hate it. We are used to our big open bathroom. I Miss my drawers for storage. But it'll do...

This is our messy room.

This is looking from our bedroom door. The bathrooms are to the left and the boys' rooms to the right. All the way to the end and left is the stairs....

The box in the picture is stuff to take to either the Airman's Attic or Goodwill. Once I get going through the garage I'll have a lot more. It's time to purge and get rid of some things. We have too much stuff!!

I'll try to hang more and take more pictures of around the house. Like I said, it's hard to get things done because of a new born.

Happy Birthday

Today is Greg's 31st birthday! Happy Birthday Greg! You are such a wonderful husband to me and such an amazing dad to Owen and Landon, we are so lucky to have you in our lives. We hope you enjoyed our day.

After I picked Landon up from school we went to the party store and I let Landon pick some things out for Greg, this is what he picked.....

All Greg wanted was a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. So I made just that. It doesn't look pretty, but it tasted pretty good!

I made Pioneer Woman's Chicken Spaghetti for dinner. Meagan made it for us when I had Owen, and I just had to make it again.

Then we had some yummy cake!

Happy 31st Birthday Gregor!!!

2 months, First Day Kindergarten

Monday was Landon's first day of Kindergarten! I can't believe he is old enough for school. Where did my baby go? I was so nervous about dropping him off. The thought of him actually starting school was just so surreal.

With Landon being in Pre-k last year, it was the best thing we could have done! He was happy to go, but not overly excited, and when it was time for drop off he told Greg and I, "Have a good day, have fun at babies r us!" (we told him we had to go there to look at stuff!)

My handsome big boy. He sure does make me proud!

The school has a tiny parking lot, so we have to park along the street and walk. Good exercise for me! And then view is just beautiful.

They had to line up and as I was walking away I tried my hardest to get a picture but there were too many parents....he is in front of the guy with the gray shirt.

Tonight we went to a German restaurant called Edelweiss for dinner. Tomorrow is Greg's birthday, but we decided to go a day early. The food was pretty good. It will never be the same but it will do!

Love these boys!

And Owen turned two months old yesterday! It seems like he should be older, but then at times it seems like he was just born.

Here are some stats on Owen.

Mr. Owen you are wearing 0-3 month clothes. You've pretty much outgrown your newborn clothes. So sad.

You are in a size one diaper, I think the next box we buy may be a size 1-2, maybe even a 2.

You are still sleeping great at night. Some nights you will sleep all night, others you wake up about 330-4 for a 2 oz bottle and go back to sleep. You usually wake between 6-7. You have been taking lots of cat naps. 20-30min naps here and there. Every now and then we will get a three hour nap out of you.

You are eating about 4oz every 3 hours. Sometimes less, and sometimes you can only make it two hours. Just depends on the day. You are still a GREAT burper!

You still take your pacifier, but only when you are sleepy or in the car. You tend to spit it out as soon as you fall asleep. It's pretty nice.

You are really starting to smile a lot more and coo. I love it.

You little face has cleared up. I think the heat in Texas got to you. You still have a really dry head. Not sure what to do. Tried the baby oil and everything. I'd hate to put Eucerin in your hair. Ew! You have a doctor's appt next week. I'll talk to the doctor.

You are also getting patches of what looks like eczema on your arms and around your neck. It makes me sad. Landon had bad skin and I am sad you are headed in that direction too. I'm keeping you lathered up in Eucerin, doing mild baths and soaps with nothing in them :(

You love to chew on your hands now and I've noticed you batting your hands at things!

You are such a sweet little guy, pretty happy and laid back. We love you Owen!!

We've been so busy and have so much going on! I'll try my best to blog as soon as possible with some more picture of the house!
